Yu Yu Hakusho Ending Explained
Yu Yu Hakusho Plot

The entire plot of this series was quite different from the manga or the anime. Here, the story starts with Yusuke, who is a delinquent with a heart of gold. He actually protects the weak and fights the bad bullies, but because he has a nasty reputation, many are scared of him or hate him. But some people support him for who he is, and they are his mother, his friend/rival Kuwabara, and Keiko.
One day, Yusuke saves a boy from a car accident and ends up getting killed himself. Then, the death ripper Botan comes to take him to Koenma, the son of the king of hell. Koenma then assigns Yusuke the work of spirit detective so that he can protect the human realm from Yokai.
What was the wager between Sakyo and Koenma?
Sakyo is a very big businessman who has an unhealthy obsession with gambling. He offers Koenma to play a game with him and keeps the conditions of this game quite simple. If Yusuke and his friends manage to defeat the Toguro brothers, then Sakyo will stop the machine that will connect the human realm with the demon realm. But if the Toguro brothers win, then Koenma will have to take down the barrier himself.
When Koenma decides not to entertain this, thinking Sayko might make another machine to break down the barrier in the future, Sakyo adds another condition to ease Koenma’s suspicion. If Sakyo loses, he will also shoot himself and give up his life. In the end, that is exactly how he meets his end.

What happens to older Toguro?
The older Toguro comes to join his brother after the younger Toguro beats Yusuke and his friends. There, the older one starts to badmouth Genkai brutally. He even goes so far as to say she died in vain without any meaning. He then narrates a story about a man and a woman who used to be friends and wanted to become martial arts masters together. But as years passed, the woman started to grow old and ugly while the man became a yokai himself to stay young.
The woman then passed her powers to her student and challenged the man who used to be her friend and ended up dying at his hands. This was the story of Genkai and the younger Toguro. The older Toguro then mocks Genkai continuously. Perhaps this is why younger Toguro grabs him by the neck and completely demolishes him for getting in his way. Maybe he did not like the fact that his brother was making fun of Genkai.
What happens to younger Toguro in the end?

Yusuke comes up with a new resolve to save his friends. He uses all his powers in his last spirit gun attack and that attack totally destroys younger Toguro’s body. After his death, while walking down the road to hell, Toguro’s soul meets with Genkai for the last time.
There, they chat about Yusuke and part ways on a sad note, hinting that Toguro had been good at his heart all along.
What is up with the post-credit scene?
There’s a post-credit scene towards the end where we see the older Toguro’s head being pecked by seagulls. Surprisingly, he is not dead yet, and this definitely is not the end for him.
