Yakuza Fiancé Episode 5 Recap

Yakuza Fiancé Episode 6 Review

The episode kicks off with Yoshino finally recovering from her fever. She immediately notices how attentively Kirishima has been looking after her, even staying awake the entire night to ensure her well-being. When she questions why he’s been so protective, he explains that he needs to keep her close in case any of his enemies come after her. Now that he’s fallen for Yoshino, he fears that targeting her would be the easiest way for his adversaries to get back at him.

From their exchange, it becomes evident just how intense Kirishima’s attachment to Yoshino has already grown. He can’t bear the thought of her being vulnerable without him by her side. However, their dynamic is about to take a twist with the arrival of a significant visitor in Tokyo. Given that Renji, Yoshino’s grandfather, had several mistresses, he also ended up with a half-granddaughter from these relationships. This half-granddaughter is Tsubaki, who lives in Kyoto and shares a close bond with Yoshino.

On the surface, Tsubaki and Kirishima appear to hit it off well. They both recognize each other’s cunning nature and respect the strength they see in one another. Kirishima is aware of how much Yoshino trusts Tsubaki, while Tsubaki understands the depth of Kirishima’s feelings for Yoshino. Nevertheless, Tsubaki warns Kirishima that if he ever dares to hurt Yoshino, she won’t hesitate to eliminate him from her cousin’s life.

Today’s episode showcased just how complex Kirishima’s character is. In the beginning, we see Tsubaki and Yoshino discussing Kirishima and his obsession with Yoshino. When asked whether Yoshino believes in his proclamation of love, she clearly states that he is just obsessed with her, that is all. But this conversation made her realise how little she knew about her fiance and that maybe she should try to understand him better.

On the other hand, Kirishima is planning something completely different. He decides to get in touch with his old flame, Nao, who happens to be a fairly successful Newscaster and a popular persona in the entertainment scene. Not only that, but she also dated Ozu, a guy with considerable generational wealth. But even with so many achievements, Nao seems amicable enough to be on good terms with everyone. However, that is only her outer shell, as she is quite a crafty and sly woman.

Hence, it is only natural that when someone like Kirishima, with whom she enjoyed an unforgettable fling in the past, takes an active interest in her, she jumps at that opportunity. Despite professing his undying love for Yoshino, it’s clear that Kirishima doesn’t seem too concerned with loyalty. However, can we truly fault him for being unfaithful when he and Yoshino aren’t actually in a relationship, and his feelings remain one-sided?

Another development in this episode is that Yoshino and Kirishima are now in Osaka. This is the first time Kirishima is meeting the Soumei group, and he is essentially on enemy turf. How this meeting will go and whether Yoshino will be able to find out his real intentions is something that we will have to see later.

Verdict

This episode was again pretty good, and I like how this is not at all like your usual romance anime. You never really know what the characters are thinking and whether they’re actually in love or not. Is Kirishima truly a scumbag who can’t control his impulses, or is there more to his actions?
