Yakuza Fiancé Episode 3 Recap

This episode opens with a provocative scene that challenges what we know about the show’s morally dubious protagonist. Right away, it’s clear that Kirishima is a man with little restraint, openly engaging with multiple women even after professing his love for Yoshino. In a particularly striking moment, he casually discusses his feelings for Yoshino while being quite intimate with another woman. Fortunately, his companion doesn’t hesitate to suggest that Yoshino’s constant irritation toward him might indicate she genuinely dislikes him.

Determined to get answers, Kirishima confronts Yoshino at an odd hour, questioning whether she truly hates him. Their ensuing interaction offers insight into their unusual relationship and highlights just how immature and obsessive Kirishima is when it comes to understanding emotions. His grasp of genuine relationships is shallow, leaving him driven by physical desires alone. Whether Yoshino can guide him toward becoming a better person or if he’ll remain a possessive “yandere” remains to be seen.

Beyond this, the episode hints at a potential love triangle involving Yoshino, Kirishima, and Shouma, a friend from her childhood. Shouma has grown up alongside Yoshino, raised under her grandfather’s care, and is protective of her, especially as she becomes entangled with someone as unhinged as Kirishima. It’s clear he would go to great lengths to safeguard her.

We get another dark and twisted side of Kirishima, who is slowly revealing his true colours. He has no qualms over revealing himself to Shoma without any explanation about how he managed to find both him and Yoshino. Shoma, who now clearly understands there is something very wrong with Kirishima, takes no time picking a fight with him. He even urges Yoshino to return with him when he realises Kirishima has been tailing her by cloning her phone.

A mild scuffle ensues, and Kirishima implies that Shoma is an outsider but quickly gets rebuked when Yoshino puts him in his place. It is good to see that she defended her friend Shoma in front of Kirishima and told him off about being the outsider himself. Kirishima did not mind that and readily apologised for his rude behaviour. However, one thing is clear, Kirishima, from this point onwards, starts to act exactly as weirdly as he had when Yoshino first came to Tokyo.

She starts to sense a murderous aura around Kirishima, even after Shoma leaves, and she doesn’t hesitate to confront Kirishima about it. Is he tired of her? Is he finally thinking of killing her? Or maybe it is as simple as him being extremely jealous about the fact that there is another man in Yoshino’s life. Funnily enough, that is exactly the reason for him acting creepier.

We get more insight into his thought process when he tells Yoshino that it is okay for her to cheat, as he is into NTR stuff. However, unlike his other lovers, he wants Yoshino to kiss or have sex with others in front of him. This is because after Yoshino cheats on him, he will just kill whoever Yoshino’s man is.

His flawed ideologies and thought processes are something no normal woman would be able to live with. Thankfully, Yoshino is not normal, and she is just a perfect foil to an enigma like Kirishima. She does not care he is screwed in the head as long as he is giving his all and showcasing his true self.

Verdict

I loved that even though this anime is clearly a Josei-centric anime, it still tries its best to incorporate a realistic portrayal of the Yakuza. Yoshino is the way she is because she has been surrounded by batshit crazy men all her life, making her pretty immune to Kirishima’s antics.
