Disney+ Hotstar’s World’s Best Review Contains No Spoilers

The movie is about a 12-year-old Prem, who lives with his mother. Prem is a smart kid and a mathematical genius. One day, Prem’s mom Priya tells him his dad Suresh was a rapper. He imagines his dad being around as he pursues his career as a rapper. Will Prem accomplish his dreams of being the World’s Best Emcee? We find out what happens in the end.

The Disney+ movie takes us into Prem’s world with an exciting dream where he wins the Mathalympics. Prem loves math, and his mother doesn’t always pressure him to be the best. However, she does expect him to focus mostly on his studies. When Prem learns about his dad’s rapping skills, he also realises there’s more to life than just doing math. I love how he transforms from a shy kid to a confident rapper, even if it’s in his closed space.

It’s a story of inspiration and following your heart and dreams. But every journey has challenges, and there are several in Prem’s life. He often gets bullied by his senior classmate; his only best friend ends the friendship to be in the dance group with the bullies. Prem has a hard time hiding his secret to be a rapper. It’s thrilling to see how he tackles every issue. The makers are aware that Prem is a 12-year-old, so his actions to deal with his issues are like any 12-something.

The movie has one twist, but that’s also presented in quite a heartwarming way. It makes one realise that life is not always what you expect, and that’s okay. The movie has some endearing moments featuring Prem and Suresh. You love to see the duo rapping like they’re truly the best.

A musical is a good watch, mainly if the music is amazing. Disney+ movie World’s Best features some foot-tapping and fun rap songs. The visuals are straight out of some flashy music video. The lyrics are simple but deep and meaningful. The title track sequence is my favourite. The credit for making the rap songs enjoyable goes to composers Jongnic Bontemps and Raashi Kulkarni.

Utkarsha Ambedkar is already a skilled rapper and singer. He gives a wonderful performance as a cool and endearing father, Suresh. The actor thoroughly enjoyed doing hip-hop for the movie. The real star of the World’s Best movie is Manny Magnus as Prem Patel. Prem’s curiosity and passion for doing what he loves make you cheer for him. The rest of the cast also plays their part well.

World’s Best Review: Final Thoughts

The new musical on Disney+ will uplift your mood. It tells us that there’s no right age to start dreaming big. The movie doesn’t villainise education, as Prem also loves Math. So that’s something I also appreciate. The hip-hop musical will leave you with a big smile in the end.

The movie is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
