Wind Breaker Season 2 Episode 4 Recap

This episode offers a rare glimpse into Sakura’s more vulnerable side. After the confrontation, he chooses to skip school, leaving his friends concerned. When they try to contact him, he abruptly ends the call, clearly shutting himself off. Determined to check on him, Nirei and Hayato visit Sakura’s home, only to discover that he lives alone in a cramped, rundown apartment. They find him unwell and completely drained, with no one around to support him, highlighting just how isolated he really is.
Not wanting to make him feel worse, they decide to give him some space and leave. Fortunately, Kotoha shows up soon after, bringing food and a much-needed dose of emotional support. She gently reminds Sakura that he doesn’t have to carry everything on his own. Kotoha claims that it’s okay to lean on the people who care about him. Though he worries about burdening his friends, she reassures him that they want to be there for him.

Later, Sakura turns to Ren, seeking advice on how to open up and depend on others. He believes his personality makes genuine friendship difficult and hopes Ren can show him the way. Instead of giving a detailed answer, Ren offers a simple but powerful truth: it’s absolutely okay to be weak around your friends. What matters is not hiding your struggles because true friends will always be there to support you.
Wind Breaker Season 2 Episode 5 Review

This episode starts by showcasing the inner turmoil that Sakura had to face growing up. He has always been walking on a rope and controlling his emotions because he thought nobody would come to save him. This is why, when things got hard, he thought this is how life is supposed to be and accepted whatever hardships came his way. However, this time he decided not to live like that and hto ave faith in his friends.
We actually see Sakura entering his class and being very truthful about his feelings to his classmates. He even says sorry to them, which is an absolutely unthinkable thing for him. But he does not get pity from them as they beat him for acting like that. All his friends let him know how offended they were that he had been fussing over such a trivial matter. Obviously, they will help him out because they genuinely think of Sakura as their leader.

Here, after a light-hearted banter, they all decide to go out and have something that Sakura would love. That’s why they find themselves at Pothos, where they all gather to eat Omurice. One thing leads to another, and after having some genuine fun, Sakura finally showcases his most honest laugh.
In the latter half of the episode, we meet another very compelling character, Tsubakino, who is promising to be one of the best in the series. But perhaps the most refreshing aspect of today’s episode is Sakura’s non-judgmental reaction towards Tsubakino, something that everyone appreciated.
Verdict

Today’s episode was very emotionally taxing for Sakura as he was going through a long personal battle. It is great that he is finally becoming more accepting of himself and relying on his friends rather than keeping everything trapped within. Hopefully, we will see Sakura be more open about his hardships to everyone and be less harsh on himself.
