Wind Breaker Season 2 Episode 4 Review: Sakura Is Sick

The 4th episode of Wind Breaker Season 2 was pretty emotional for Sakura. Let us see how this episode turned out.

Wind Breaker Season 2 Episode 3 Recap

The last episode opens with Nagato recounting his past and the turning point that led his life down a darker path. It all began shortly after his middle school graduation when he came across a group of delinquents attacking a young boy on the street. He stepped in to help but was easily overpowered and ended up injuring himself.

Just when things seemed hopeless, Natori appeared and stepped in to protect both Nagato and the boy. Afterwards, Natori praised Nagato’s courage and invited him to join his group, KEEL, claiming he needed dependable people like him. Initially flattered, Nagato agreed, only to soon discover the harsh reality of what KEEL was really about.

Upon arriving at their headquarters, he was shocked to witness the brutality within the group: stronger members regularly intimidated and beat up the weaker ones to maintain control. Leaving wasn’t an option, and every member was forced to bring in money through bullying, theft, or other criminal means. This oppressive system explained how KEEL grew so large and maintained its power. Realising the severity of the situation, Nagato deeply regretted involving his friends and dragging the Bofurin members into such a dangerous mess.

What made this episode especially moving was seeing how much Sakura has evolved. Once a reckless fighter with no real purpose, he now battles with intention and care, driven by a sense of responsibility and loyalty to his teammates. There was a time when he stood alone, but those days are behind him; he now has people he wants to protect, and that makes all the difference.

Wind Breaker Season 2 Episode 4 Review

In this episode, we see a very vulnerable side of Sakura, who decides not to come to school after the fight. His friends are worried about him, and they try to reach out to him, but he quickly hangs up on them. Later, Nirei and Hayato go to Sakura’s house and realise how he lives alone and in a dingy apartment. There, they find Sakura completely overwhelmed with sickness and feeling exhausted. They understand no one is there to help him out, and he might truly be lonely.

They do not stay there for long and decide to temporarily leave him so that they don’t make him uncomfortable with their presence. But, thankfully, Kotoha comes with some food for Sakura, and she gives him some very important insight about how he should rely more on others, as they are his friends. It is understandable that he does not want to trouble them, but they want to be troubled by him.

Sakura later goes to Ren and asks for some much-needed advice about how he, too, can rely on others. Sakura thinks that the way he is, he can never be proper friends with others and needs guidance from Ren.  However, Ren just outright tells him how he accepts the weakness within him. It does not matter that he is weak when he is in front of his friends, as they are there to have his back.

Verdict

This segment was hilarious, as we later found out that Hajime was actually eavesdropping on their conversation. He also embarrasses Ren so much that he quickly leaves after punching Hajime extremely hard. But one thing is for sure: in this episode, Sakura comes pretty close to the other characters from Bofurin. Hopefully, he will be more aware of his friends and be less harsh on himself.
