Pippa Plot
Pippa recounts the remarkable tale of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta, a valiant officer hailing from India’s 45 Cavalry regiment, who, alongside his siblings, valiantly fought on the eastern front during the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971. The trailer commences with the resonant voice of the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, affirming that should anyone unleash wanton and unprovoked aggression upon India, the nation would respond in kind, and declare war against Pakistan. Balram Singh then articulates that the citizens of India were unaware that a pivotal chapter in Bangladesh’s history would be written with the ink of Indian resolve.

Balram’s elder brother, also a member of the armed forces, shares a strained relationship with him, often assuming a paternalistic role. With the Pakistani army amassing eighty thousand troops in the war zone, India sought local support to facilitate their mission. This aid materialised in the form of the Mukti Bahini, as the Pakistanis attempted to thwart India’s progress with inconsequential skirmishes in a bid to reach Dacca ahead of their Indian counterparts. This historical event marked the inaugural instance of the Indian Army crossing international borders.
Balram’s brother ponders the river’s depths, contemplating the potential peril of being stranded in its midst. This sparked Captain Balram’s visionary idea of Pippa—the Russian amphibious war tank known as the ‘PT-76’—capable of floating on water and traversing bridges when necessary
