Netflix’s recent South Indian release, Vaashi, seems to be winning hearts. The courtroom drama directed by Vishnu G. Raghavi, with a screenplay from Janiz Chacko Simon and Raghavi himself, is an intense fight between two spouses representing opposing parties until the end. Who takes the last nod and wins is a question hooked on everyone’s minds.
The main leads for the film include Tovino Thomas as Ebin and Keerthy Suresh as Madhu, supported by a cast that features Kottayam Ramesh, Maya Menon, Baiju Santhosh, Rony David Raj, Anu Mohan, Anagha Narayanan amongst others. The film is produced by G Suresh Kumar along with Menaka Suresh & Revathy Suresh and has a runtime of 123 minutes.
Vaashi starts off in a rather simple way, introducing us to Ebin and Madhu, their friendship which soon blossoms into love and is set to get married. As the wedding festivities begin, the two lawyers are overwhelmed by a case at hand that puts them on two opposite sides of the courtroom. Ebin is representing a girl (Anusha), who claims to have been lured into intercourse under the pretext that the guy (Gautham) will end up marrying her. Madhu is the defendant set to prove that there was never such a promise made and that the events of the night were consensual.

Vaashi Ending Explained
So, who is speaking the truth and who is lying? Well, Vaashi is a film that does not paint its character in black or white but, in varying shades of grey, showing us how complicated a human can be. Towards the end of the film, as Madhu and Ebin struggle to keep their marriage together due to their professional clashes, two confessions change the course of the story.
Anusha confesses to Ebin that she wants to withdraw the case and then, goes on to even manipulate her friend into giving out a wrong statement that would save Gautham. She admits that she is in love with Gautham and will not be able to see him put behind bars.
Meanwhile, Gautham, on the other hand, who maintained his innocence and said that he never led Anusha on, reveals that he was aware of Anusha’s feelings for him and did lead her on from time to time.

Having never clearly spoken about her feelings to Gautham, Anusha regrets how far along the case has come. And, Gautham having taken advantage of Anusha’s feelings regrets where he stands. With both parties guilty in their own place, it comes down to the courtroom arguments by Ebin and Madhu that seal the outcome of the case.
After delivering their closing statements, it is Ebin who ends up winning the case. The judge declares that because Gautham has relations with Anusha while she was drunk, it does make him culpable. Whether, he had made a promise to marry her or not, cannot be clearly proven. This leads to Gautham getting sentenced to jail for ten years.
Later, Ebin and Madhu speak outside the courtroom and understand that these instances might be more often than they realize as they belong to the same profession. However, it is best to separate their professional and personal lives and, not let one get the better of the other. It is also revealed that Madhu will be appealing the case in High Court.
