Unmasked Episode 10 Recap
The episode starts 20 years ago — Hyeong-tae gives Tae-soo Hae-won’s confession tape in exchange for a large sum of money. Hae-won is apparently suffering from guilt and, during their talk at the swings, she wonders if, in the near future, something happens to her whether So-ryong will do the right thing and not believe her murderers. Now standing outside the studio, they see on fire and are able to spot Hae-won’s dead body inside. Afterwards, So-ryong and Han Do are stunned to see Hae-won’s charred remains and Jin-man blames them for her demise. Incidentally, he goes back home and cackles to be rid of her finally.

The next morning, So-ryong gets summons papers for defaming Hae-won that Hyeong-tae delivers. He tries to scream at her, but she reveals that Hae-won confessed to killing Seong-won, along with telling her that she had confessed the same thing to Hyeong-tae years ago. However, he tells her that without any proof, Hae-won’s words have no meaning. Just like last time, she is manipulating her into believing her words. In the end, he tells her to update her interview methods because she has driven 4 people to suicide till now.
As talks start about cancelling Trigger, Han Do confesses to it to save the programme and further mentions that someone else also used his account to spread misinformation. However, it seems like Han Do’s involvement is about to be swept under the rug again. Meanwhile, So-ryong gets questioned by the police, who tell her that Hae-won’s husband’s severed head was found in the US. The news catches her by surprise and the interviewer isn’t quite happy about the number of people who have ended up dead around her.

Outside, she is further annoyed when Han Do tells her that he gave himself up to Hyeong-tae. That night, Hyeong-tae cancels Trigger’s episode and So-ryong is beyond angry. Unfortunately, Yu-mi’s justice isn’t Hyeong-tae’s concern and he makes it apparent that things are going to get much more difficult from here. He threatens her to admit in a press conference that she went overboard and essentially take the fault if she wants to save her team. Trigger’s team falls apart right after, as Gi-ho starts accusing everyone and a fight breaks out. So-ryong is left heartbroken at the turn of events.
The next day, Na-hee learns about So-ryong’s press conference and rushes to talk to her. Dae-yong and Han Do show their support and So-ryong gets on the podium to announce in front of all the journalists to accept the harsh way in which she conducts her interviews. She then resigns the show… well, not quite. She then throws away the note that she was carrying, mentioning that Hyeong-tae wanted her to read it, and then plays their recorded conversation in front of everyone. It turns out she did have her recording pen on her when she talked to Hae-won on the playground. She then goes on to say that anyone who tries to take Trigger off the air is a direct accomplice of Hae-won’s murderers!

Oh — she also registered a complaint against Hyeong-tae for breaching the Broadcasting Act. Unfortunately, she is demoted.
Later, we see the Trigger team getting a surprise from Hae-won, who pre-planned the delivery of a plant to the office, while So-ryong is supposedly playing ice hockey!
Unmasked Episode 10 Review

What a fantastic character Oh So-ryong is — her fierce wit is something we get to see every day, but it shone brightly in this episode. What a shocking turn of events this one gave us. What a brilliant episode this was, full of tension, thrill and twists and turns that are nothing short of amazing. I loved the interactions among the Trigger employees who are so passionate about following what is right and the war between Hyeong-tae and So-ryong. I think it’s somewhat clear what is about to happen in the Unmasked finale episodes, but I am excited to see what So-ryong has up her sleeve.
All in all, I can’t wait for next week!
