Twenty Five Twenty One is Na Hee-do’s story, one that her daughter reads in her personal diary after running away and quitting ballet. In July 1998, Hee-do is in school and is quite casual about her schooling, thanks to being in the fencing team. She dreams of rivalling Ko Yu-rim in fencing but her dreams are dashed when IMF forces her school to shut down the fencing division in her school. She’s heartbroken but doesn’t lose hope though – she can’t give up.

On the other hand, we have Yi-jin who is out delivering newspapers. He comes across Hee-do having a nasty fight with her mother and then breaks a statue. She screams at him for apparently no reason because, well, she was angry. Yi-jin is impressive, he found a job even before moving to the town and seems mostly mild-mannered. Either way, Yi-jin and Hee-do keep meeting each other while she tries to persuade Yu-rim’s coach to teach her.

Getting no help from her mother, Hee-do decides to forcefully transfer to Yu-rim’s school in order to learn and compete. Unfortunately for her, things don’t seem to go her way. Hee-do’s overdramatic nature is hilarious.

Out to a party, Hee-do, and we, get to know that Yi-jin’s family went bankrupt at one point. Hee-do, however, is still trying to get arrested in order to transfer schools. Unfortunately, that doesn’t work in her favour again but this time around, Yi-jin scolds her for hanging out at a place like this. He also impresses upon her that things could’ve gone much worse than what she had anticipated. Although she tells her why she wanted to get caught by the police, he tells her that there are worse outcomes to this plan and a lot could’ve gone wrong.

However, his words resonate with her a lot and the next day, Hee-do tells her mother that she is struggling and needs her help. However, her genuine cry for help is met with her mother’s anger when she discovers that her underage daughter was at a club. She doesn’t listen to Hee-do though and refuses to believe her. After her mother rips and throws a copy of Full House out, Hee-do gets frustrated and tells her that she has no right to rip something that she cares about since she is no better than that comic book.

After a heated exchange, her mother leaves to go to the office and Hee-do is left collecting the torn pieces of her beloved comic book. Jae-kyung calls someone in for a favour after that. Meanwhile, a heartbroken Hee-do has to suffer the aftermath of her mother’s fury when she has to return the torn comic book.

The next morning, Hee-do goes to beg Coach Chan-mi to take her under her wing since all of her plans to transfer have come up empty. After a series of tests, Chan-mi asks Hee-do to transfer to Tae Yang High and that she will teach her. It turns out Jae-kyung had called Chan-mi to train her daughter. The night turns out to be a rather happy one for Hee-do.
