Twelve Episode 2 Recap

The episode opens with Taesan thinking about Gwem-soon’s words, telling him to stick around for centuries more to help people. This triggers memories of Mirr from centuries ago when he saved someone from a loan shark. Mirr accidentally exposes her powers to save the others during the tense situation, and the two are forced to flee. That night, the villagers bring food for the group as a token of thanks for saving them, but, as it turns out, it was only a way to kill Mirr. Thankfully, Taesan wakes up in time to save her, and then he vows never to get involved with humans again.

In the present, O-gwi awakens, and Sa-min asks for his help to get rid of Taesan and Marok. Still bitter about being sealed for eternity, O-gwi seethes with hatred for the angels, just as Mirr walks past him, unbeknownst to the two of them. That night, Sa-min tells O-gwi about Hae-tae’s powers and his three soul stones and asks him to find them and feed their energy to the Dragon Soul to get Hae-tae’s powers for himself. With the angels having lost their powers, it will allow him to have everything that he has ever hoped for.

Elsewhere, Taesan visits a doctor for his anxiety disorder, while Sa-min plans to betray O-gwi after he finds the soul stones. That night, Sa-min performs a ritual while the angels are informed about a great evil rising and rush to get everyone together. Elsewhere, Mirr is attacked in the basement lot after work by a bunch of miscreants under Sa-min’s direction. The others rush to save her, and a fight ensues. Unaware of the commotion taking place, Taesan comes back to an empty house and is shocked to see his pendant glowing and immediately realises that something is amiss.

A bulk of the runtime of episode 2 focuses on quirky silliness, which may annoy viewers with the plot progression. The second episode has a lot of action, which is exciting, and it’s great to see all the characters showing us their powers. However, most of the storyline felt very slow-paced and required more tense and thrilling storytelling. As a supernatural thriller, the first half felt more like a comedy than anything else, and I was hoping to see more action between O-gwi and the angels, considering Twelve is only 12 episodes long. That being said, I am still holding on to hope. Maybe there’s something truly terrifying waiting for us down the road.
