-True to Love Episode 3 Recap and Review Contain Spoilers-
The latest episode picks up right where it left off, with Bo-ra standing in front of the car in which Ju-wan is seen kissing another girl. Following her is Su-hyeok, who stands at a distance and is trying to understand what is taking place in front of him. For a long minute, Bo-ra stands in front, until a car comes from the other side & honks at her to give some space.
The constant honking & blinking of the headlights get Ju-wan’s attention and when he turns his head around, finds his girlfriend looking at him. One would expect him to apologise or make up some ridiculous excuse that would somehow explain the situation. But what we get is the ultimate gaslighting that I have ever seen.
Even though she catches him red-handed in the act, he absolutely denies everything saying that she is misunderstanding. When Bo-ra doesn’t fall for his tactics, he resorts to blaming her for everything. He calls it a one-time mistake but rather questions her for coming to his house unannounced. He starts blaming her for not trusting him & moreover, it turns out that he had even introduced the girl as his cousin, which she is apparently not.

Bo-ra walks away from the situation thinking her boyfriend would come after her & beg for forgiveness. Instead, he decides to take the girl back with whom he was kissing. On the other hand, Su-hyeok was witnessing everything & misses his chance to exchange the phones that were swapped. He keeps on following her until his Sang-jin calls up to know if they met or not. Soon after, Bo-ra dials her number & finds Su-hyeok hiding behind a car near her.
Back at her home, she goes over the events that happened & regrets not lashing out or expressing her anger, despite the other person’s apparent fault. Having been in a relationship for a long time, she tries to rationalise it with a one-time mistake & shares with Yu-jeong that she is willing to forgive him, as they are about to get married & she can’t throw away everything over it.
At first, she tries to show that she is above it all & such things can’t faze her but when they go back to Jin-woo’s restaurant to drink & cry their heart’s out – she finds Ju-wan there. Unaware of their presence Ju-wan & Jin-woo continue talking about how he got caught & has been cheating on her. To console Ju-wan, even Jin-woo spill the beans about losing the spark from his marriage & how he doesn’t feel the same for his wife but forces himself to.

Ju-wan also confesses that he doesn’t want to marry Bo-ra and the moment he got caught, things became even more clear. After listening to everything, Bo-ra couldn’t stand there any longer & goes back home, while Yu-jeong gives them an earful. Even after coming back from Bo-ra’s house, he expresses her heartbreaking feelings when she heard what her husband said about their marriage.
While in the publishing company, Sang-jin is seen trying to remove the partitions from his office for an open office & meets an uninvited person, who helps him in moving everything. It turns out her name is Bang U-ri & she came to the wrong publishing house for a job interview. However, looking at her disheartened face, he decides to hire her.
Bo-ra though can’t seem to function well after everything & is living like a zombie with no sleep or food. Concerned for her health, Bo-mi ends up texting Ju-wan about it and he does come outside his house to talk to her. At this point, we expected her to give him his own medicine but instead, she tries to make herself look pretty by putting on makeup & changing clothes.
Expecting him to apologise properly, but all she gets is a sorry being repeatedly said, without even meaning it. Looking at her pitiful self in the reflection of the restaurant, Bo-ra finally burst out all her emotions by saying everything that could hurt Ju-wan. But he doesn’t step back & says equally hurting things to her.

However, unlike other dramas where this would be the moment when the leads somewhat patch-up, after being totally honest with each other. It turns into a funny situation with the garbage collectors interrupting their fight to do their job. We have only seen people calling each other trash but here, they take it too personally & decide to follow the garbage truck instead.
Final Thought: True to Love Episode 3
The episode was quite realistic in showing how a break-up usually is. How Bo-ra’s character first tries to rationalize everything and hopes that everything will go back to normal but when she is faced with the reality as days go by, all the feelings bubble up & finally bursts out. It is unlikely that they will be mending their relationship again but Bo-ra does seem to spiral down in the next episode’s preview.
True to Love (Bo-ra! Deborah) is currently available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
