The episode starts off with Sang-jin and U-ri having a conversation about watching a movie together. U-ri thinks she has successfully asked him out on a date, but Sang-jin invites everyone in the office to come along. However, they back out, giving U-ri another chance to spend time together. But he seems to have another plan when his mother calls him up to meet, which turns out to be a blind date in a restaurant.

Not being able to back out of it, Sang-jin ends up spending the evening with the blind date, leaving U-ri to wait at the theatre alone. Not in the mood to watch a movie anymore, he asks Su-hyeok if everyone watched the movie together but gets to know how nobody came except for U-ri. He rushes to meet her & takes her out to drink. There he subtly tells her that a relationship among them, other than a professional one is not going to happen. It makes her disappointed & tells him that it would have been better to reject her after confessing instead of keeping her feeling aside before even putting them out on the table.

Meanwhile, Su-hyeok finds his parents at the theatre & even introduces Bo-ra to them. Luckily they take a liking to her, and his mother even tries to have a meal with her soon. This encounter brings up the conversation about families, and he shares that his mother actually remarried, and the person was his stepfather. Looking at them, he understood the meaning of love – how it can change & one can love another person again too.

They further go for dinner and drinks, where they have more honest talks about their families and themselves. Bo-ra reveals how she formed her idea of love and family from the cliche dramas. Analysing further, she reveals her personality type in a relationship, which is a needy, attention-seeking person who wants everyone to love her. But at the same time, she feels anxious and pessimistic about everything and feels that the other person might not like her if she revealed her true feelings/personality.

Su-hyeok consoles her by saying that even then, there might be someone who would love all parts of her & the person could be somewhere near too. While it gives Bo-ra butterflies as if he is talking about himself but she decides not to get ahead of herself. They wanted to go for a second round of drinks & Su-hyeok invites her to his place but sends her home instead when he realise that it could be misunderstood as inappropriate.

Yu-jeong and Jin-woo also try to bring back the spark in their relationship by having a date night, and simultaneously Bo-mi and Jin-ho were also having a date in the basement. Needless to say, they both ended on a good note. The next day, Bo-ra turns up at the cafe early, and it is revealed that she knows about their relationship & tries to lecture Jin-woo about dating. On top of that, Bo-mi turns up there as well and asks to be hired as a part-timer.

Finally, the day of Yu-ri’s wedding comes up & Su-hyeok decides to take Bo-ra along as his girlfriend. The last time when he met Yu-ri’s fiance in the restaurant, he tells him that he will come with his girlfriend. Thus, not showing up or coming alone might create misunderstanding, so he decides to pretend to be dating Bo-ra. There he also has a conversation with Yu-ri for the last time & they both close their chapter by apologizing and thanking each other.

At the wedding, Sang-jin and his ex-wife also turn up, and their friends try to stir something by asking the reason behind their divorce. Not being able to put up with their ridiculous speculations, Su-jin gives them a blunt answer and rescues Sang-jin from there to a restaurant. For the first time, Sang-jin reveals his point of view while getting the divorce. He tells her that he was having financial issues keeping the publishing company working & had reached the point of even vacating the house they were living in. Thus, he just accepted the divorce instead of confiding in her & working things out together.

His side makes Su-jin think that even she might be too distant from him, that he couldn’t even come to her for help. The conversation helps them to let go of any hard feelings for each other and wish the best. At the wedding hall, Bo-ra meets up with the radio staff again, who asks her about starting the radio again, but she isn’t able to give a confirming answer. Su-hyeok brings this up again when they were out for a walk later on and tells her that she should give it a go and show the real side to the public.

Also, it turns out that Su-hyeok didn’t make up the story about meeting at a wedding before, where Bo-ra was wearing a black dress. They actually met each other in an awkward encounter when Bo-ra was trying to take selfies in an elevator & doors opened up. There Su-hyeok was standing at the entrance, looking at her in awe.

True to Love Episode 12 Review

Today’s episode was definitely one of the best ones that gave us an insight into why the characters are the way they are. From Bo-ra’s not-so-loving parents to Bo-mi’s low self-esteem and Sang-jin’s friendly yet sometimes standoffish personality – they all have their reasons. What I really liked is how Sang-jin tries to make U-ri understand about not accepting her feelings which is the right thing to do. But it will be a shame if they end up together anyway, which feels weird since she looks like a kid in front of him.

It was funny to watch Su-jin throw away the bride’s bouquet, as it looked like Bo-ra would be the one catching it. These unexpected points are what make this drama fun but the preview might make many people furious as Ju-wan returns to Bo-ra’s life.

True to Love (Bo-ra! Deborah) is currently available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
