Trolley episode 8 starts with Hye-joo waiting anxiously for Ki-young and remembering the time in school when he had professed his feelings for her. It was an awkward time for her, as she also liked him back but couldn’t go forward with her feelings because Seung-hee also liked her.

In the present, after Ki-young arrives, the initial pleasantries turn into discomfort for Hye-joo after Ki-young implores her to apologise to Seung-hee and her mother. Meanwhile, Soo-bin’s attitude becomes increasingly hostile as she goes through some feelings of resentment against Yeo-jin and Joong-do.

On the other hand, Joong-do wonders what to do about Seung-hee and her family as he realises that they won’t stay quiet forever. He further wonders whether they will connect Seung-kyu’s case with their own and make a big deal out of it and eventually realises that the internet is a very important tool to push favours towards them.

That night, Ki-young thinks back to his conversation with Hye-joo, wherein he tells her to apologise even though she didn’t do anything wrong. He makes it clear it is just to make Seung-hee’s life less miserable as his mother-in-law is not mentally stable and the only thing that can make things somewhat right is her apology.

Meanwhile, Hye-joo comes across Soo-bin outside the former’s office unexpectedly in the pouring rain. Soo-bin apologises for going inside the office without her permission but reiterates that she wanted to check the dehumidifier since Hye-joo wasn’t anywhere to be seen. An emotional Hye-joo embraces the girl and asks her never to put herself in harm’s way for her after this.

In a heartbreaking moment, we realise that Soo-bin has miscarried.

During the same night, Woo-jae meets Yeo-jin while Joong-do talks to Jin-seok to discuss the amendment that he wants to introduce. Unfortunately, she discourages him from going forward with the bill passing since it’s an impossible task, regardless of whether or not he gets the public’s interest. Joong-do, however, using the power of his words, wins her over.

Meanwhile, Yeo-jin thanks Woo-jae for being there for her as she fought for her family’s death. She didn’t win the case, but Woo-jae, a reporter at the time, helped get her story out. Anyway, it’s clear that Yeo-jin has something to say to Woo-jae, but in the end, she chooses not to disclose anything and, honestly, looks kind of scared of him.

The relationship between Soo-bin and Hye-joo looks to be on the mending road as they decide to have lunch together, and Hye-joo saves her name in her ‘Favourites’. On the other hand, Ki-young warns Seung-hee not to harass Hye-joo anymore at that moment since if the past is brought up, the dirt can destroy Seung-ho’s reputation.

Hye-joo and Soo-bin, meanwhile, spend some time together before the latter leaves to meet with a friend. During that time, Soo-bin asks her why she hasn’t questioned her regarding whether she will have the baby or not. Hye-joo truthfully tells her that although she does selfishly want to meet Ji-hoon’s baby, she also will support Soo-bin in whatever she chooses.

Soo-bin, heartbroken upon realising that she won’t be able to have the baby, goes off in a huff. Not long after, she starts to go through severe abdominal pain and rushes to the hospital. When she returns home, she overhears Hye-joo telling Yeo-jin about her past. It’s a heartbreaking moment for everyone, but Yeo-jin advises her not to apologise to the family and asks her to be remorseful but not apologetic.

Unfortunately, Hye-joo learns about Joong-do’s interview that night and is left distraught at the dirt being thrown around surrounding the Seung-kyu case. Thus, when Joong-do comes back home, she lays into him for using Gwi-soon and bringing in another barrage of hateful comments against Seung-kyu’s family.

Joong-do tells her that she took permission from Gwi-soon before saying anything to the media, which upsets Hye-joo further. She begs Joong-do to stop using the media to make this a bigger deal than it needs to be, but he refuses to back down and tells her frankly what his plans are regarding the amendment.

He asks her to support him, but Hye-joo, unfortunately, refuses to see his point of view.

Trolley Episode 8 Ending

The next morning, Soo-bin leaves the family after leaving behind an envelope that someone takes out once she leaves. When Hye-joo runs home to get the photos that she had gotten printed, she goes into Joong-do’s study and makes a shocking discovery – Ji-hoon’s phone is hidden inside one of the drawers.

Inside, she finds his texts to Soo-bin, wherein he threatened to end his life if she left him. Elsewhere, Joong-do accuses Soo-bin of being the cause of his son’s death.

There’s something just so heartbreaking about Soo-bin and Hye-joo’s doomed relationship that you wouldn’t be able to stop yourself from shipping them. Soo-bin constantly looks to be in need of guidance and love that she has only found from Hye-joo. On the other hand, Joong-do, in spite of feeling like the ideal husband, seems to have some very shocking secrets hidden in different pockets. Yeo-jin is also not far away.

However, it’s interesting how Hye-joo is shown to be someone who can do no wrong – like, it’s fine to sympathise with people, and Seung-kyu’s parents don’t deserve the hate. But seriously – their son was a horrible person who did the ultimate betrayal before running away from the consequences of his actions.

It’s an interesting watch, definitely, that is really amping on the emotional moments in this episode.

Trolley is streaming on Netflix.
