Trolley episode 14 starts with Soo-bin telling Hye-joo the truth about everything; about Joong-do’s cheating and how he might have killed Ji-hoon.

We jump back to the day Ji-hoon died – he and Soo-bin went to meet Hye-joo at the studio, but not finding her there, they go back home. Inside, Ji-hoon and Soo-bin fall asleep in his room while waiting for his mother, and when they come to, Ji-hoon is shocked to overhear a horrible conversation between Yeo-jin and Joong-do. They have clearly done something horrible, and both of them realise what that can be.

Ji-hoon soon proposes to leave and makes Soo-bin promise not to tell anyone anything. We see another flashback to when Ji-hoon was in middle school; that’s when he had first caught his father having an affair with Yeo-jin, with the door open nonetheless. The incident pushed him over the edge and he left home soon after. He is, thus, shocked to find out that the affair is still ongoing even after 5 years.

Soo-bin comforts Ji-hoon and mentions how she is also finding it difficult to break up with Jung-dae even though she is desperately trying to do so. Either way, he makes up his mind to meet his father then and there, but first, he proposes to meet Jung-dae. He promises to confront Joong-do so that he stops the affair as soon as possible so that his political career doesn’t go up in flames.

Soo-bin mentions that that was the last time that she saw Ji-hoon. Soon after, she got the news of his death. Desperate and now being followed by Jung-dae, she follows Ji-hoon’s advice and meets Hye-joo in hopes of getting asylum from her problems. The plan works, and now here we are after that.

In the present, Soo-bin tells Hye-joo about the text and that Ji-hoon knew about the baby and that it wasn’t his. He was supportive and helped her escape Jung-dae and his abuse. Thus, he didn’t die because of her. However, he did mention something about killing Jung-dae for getting Soo-bin in a horrible situation, which makes Hye-joo even more confused and tense.

Either way, Soo-bin tells Hye-joo everything that Joong-do made her do to keep quiet but mentions that there’s something fishy going on with Joong-do – things are not what they seem to be.

Back at home, Hye-joo is surprised to see Joong-do awake, and he mentions how she should’ve woken him up instead of sneaking out in the rain. Either way, Hye-joo opts to work some more instead of going to sleep immediately and finds the dashcam footage from her car to find out whether Soo-bin was telling the truth or not. And, to no one’s surprise, Joong-do has really been sneaking around behind her back.

After confirming her suspicions, Hye-joo decides to confront Joong-do first – she asks him what kind of trouble Ji-hoon was in, for which he met him the night that he died. She goes further and asks him whether he blackmailed him like Soo-bin did for money in exchange for not exposing his affair.

Joong-do is shocked at first and tries to pin all the blame on Soo-bin and her lies. Hye-joo is having none of it, though, and agrees that she might have been fooled by Soo-bin again. Thus, she goes to Yeo-jin to confirm whatever he said and finds her standing outside the door. She invites her inside and calmly asks both of them whether something is going on between them.

Yeo-jin calmly tells her that there is something going on, although Joong-do continues to deny it and tries to get her to talk to him in private. Hye-joo, however, has had enough and asks them both to get out of the house. Joong-do finally admits the truth to Woo-jae, who advises him to only think about Hye-joo and to ignore Soo-bin.

The night is spent heartbroken and tensed, and the morning after is no different. Joong-do gets the news that the party won’t support his proposal, and he agrees to go through with it on his own. Meanwhile, at home, Hye-joo calmly asks Yeo-jin how she could do something so horrible to her when she thought of them to be her family.  Yeo-jin doesn’t say anything, and Hye-joo gives her two hours to pack everything and leave.

On the other hand, Seung-hee and Yoo-sin take part in an interview.

Later on, Joong-do calls Hye-joo to let her know that he will send her a car for the interview later on in the day. He acts as if nothing has happened, and a frustrated Hye-joo asks him whether he really had nothing to do with Ji-hoon’s death. She’s had enough of her lies but Joong-do looks shocked at the accusation and tells her that he didn’t have a hand in that. Hye-joo calls him some colourful names and tells him that she won’t get on the news with him.

A confused Joong-do asks Woo-jae straight up whether he met Ji-hoon the night that he died, remembering how he left him to tail Ji-hoon after Yoon-seo went missing. Woo-jae agrees to have met him, and as a follow-up, Joong-do asks him whether he killed Ji-hoon. Woo-jae tells him he didn’t do such a thing and tells Joong-do that he found Ji-hoon with drugs on the banks of the Han River and scolded him for it.

He wanted to give him a lift back to his apartment, but he suddenly vanished without a trace. Joong-do can’t, however, seem to believe him and asks him again whether he killed Ji-hoon. Woo-jae mentions that his dashcam caught Ji-hoon walking into the river to retrieve the packet of meth probably, and that’s how he died.

On the other hand, Seung-hee pays a sudden visit to Hye-joo and, after accusing her of having an affair with Ki-young, starts crying about her anxiousness surrounding Ki-young leaving her and trying to trap him in a relationship where he doesn’t want to stay. Then she again mentions how she doesn’t want Hye-joo to be happy after her ‘lies’ destroyed her life.

And as if things can’t take a worse turn, Yoon-seo continues to victimise her mother, blaming her for her petty fights at school. Hye-joo finally realises that hiding and staying quiet is really not helping her in any way and decides to tell the world her side of the story finally.

However, there’s one vital piece of truth that Hye-joo is probably unaware of – five years ago, Joong-do had raped Yeo-jin, which she had told Woo-jae.

Trolley Episode 14 Review

The problem with Trolley, personally, is the fact that the series loves giving us the same scenes over and over again in different settings. Most of the time, we might get some little tidbit here and there, but mostly it’s stale and stagnant and doesn’t push the runtime forward too well.

However, the little twist at the end just makes Joong-do this horrible person straight out of Disney. Interestingly though, the fact that a person like this can exist isn’t an outlandish idea. The person who really turned out to be a total 180, however, is Ji-hoon for me. The series portrayed him to be an absolutely horrible guy, but man, I get him. His life has been pretty messed up.

Again, can someone make Seung-hee disappear? I just don’t understand the point of her and why Hye-joo must always wilt like a flower in front of her whenever she says the same two lines to her. It’s just so odd to me.

Either way, Trolley episode 14 is mostly ok but doesn’t leave much of a mark in my mind, personally.

Trolley is streaming on Netflix.
