The Twister: Caught in the Storm intricately follows the events that unfolded on May 22, 2011, when the deadly and devastating ep-5 monster tornado hit Joplin, Missouri. As narrated by the young ones who survived the destructive force of nature, the film consists of interviews, clips, and more collected from those who were at the scene. Spreading a message of communal harmony and hope after destruction, this documentary brings a positive message that comes out of a catastrophe.
The documentary follows the events of May 22, 2011, in a way that not only has your blood rushing but will lead the audience to resonate with some of the happenings with its background of the end-of-the-world predictions. For those who remember the infamous 2012 predictions, this film captures your attention right at the start simply through a feeling of finding the content relatable. Then, it moves on to the High School graduation that takes place on the morning of this very day which adds the finishing touch when it comes to the viewers.
These elements work wonders when it comes to gaining the attention of the audience before it moves on to the real deal. Hereon, the attention drifts to the topic of the film- the Joplin Tornado and the fear it brought to those who experienced the terrifying force of nature on that day. From those who arrived in Joplin on this particular day to witness the tornado to those who were happily celebrating their graduation just a few minutes before the tornado hit, this film takes into account various points of view which all come together as they face death.

As these people reach the eye of the tornado, a striking clear sky and drifting sunlight give them a short break before the mayhem continues to leave them unsure of what will happen to them. The film leaves no stone unturned and no eyes left without tears as it shows the hours of destruction that broke down a city, but the community. The way this documentary has been edited with all the clips from the day, after the day and of the way the community came together after the destruction is wonderfully done. All the interviews have also been wonderfully set in place throughout the film, which brings out a good experience for viewers when they watch the film. In The Twister: Caught in the Storm Chad Crilley, Cecil Cornish and Doug Heady make an appearance along with other interesting archival footage that adds a lot of thrill to this heartbreaking story.
Altogether, it is definitely a wonderfully made film which captures the elements of destruction, hope, loss and more, making it a documentary worth watching.
