Netflix’s The Stranger (2022) is an intense crime thriller that builds up suspense and leaves behind a horrifying and gripping story that is based on true events. Directed and written by Thomas M. Wright, the movie stars Sean Harris, Joel Edgerton, Steve Mouzakis, Ewen Leslie, and Jada Alberts, alongside other cast members.
The Stranger follows the story of two men who are strangers that form a friendship that brings a smile to them both. However, behind this are secrets that are slowly being revealed and involve a secret police investigation that will shed light on the truth of one of the country’s biggest kidnapping case.
Netflix’s synopsis of the film reads:
An undercover cop forms an intense, intimate relationship with a murder suspect while trying to earn his trust and elicit a confession.
-The Stranger (2022) Review contains No spoilers-
The Stranger begins with scenes of a forest where a search for something is being held when it abruptly changes to Henry (Sean Harris) jogging on the spot in a bus before going back to his seat. There, he meets Paul (Steve Mouzakis) who is destined to change his life forever.
This was one of the most gripping movies that I have encountered and I have to say that this is definitely something that should not be missed. Be it the intriguing plot based on real-life events or the performance conveyed by the two actors on screen, every bit of this movie was a job well done and it was nothing less than a pleasure when watching it.

However, I have to say that not everyone will be able to relate to what I say because it does take some time for the story to enter the intriguing parts. Having said that, the story covers one of the most notorious crimes in Australian history and witnessing cops not giving up on it even after years really does move you.
But it is also the chemistry that the two lead characters Henry and Mark create that is so astounding that you wish for it to not end the way it does. It is the friendship that these two characters form that amazes you even when you know that there is a hidden motive behind all this.

I have also enjoyed the fact that the script is not dragged and is seemingly fast-paced while covering the sides that need to be covered. Altogether, this movie is the result of what you get when talented actors meet a wonderful script and make it work like magic.

Summing Up: The Stranger (2022)
Firstly, the movie may not be a fit for everyone. While thriller lovers who have the patience to wait while the foundation is being laid will love this, if you are looking for entertainment right from the start then forget it.
However, patience is definitely worth it because this is a movie that won’t fail to capture your attention, so don’t try multitasking with this one because it is impossible.
Finally, we are aware that there is another show with the same name but let me tell you that there is nothing in common between the two. So don’t get distracted and check out this movie that is really worth the watch!
