The Simpsons: The Good The Bart and The Loki Review: Just For Fun

The Simpsons: The Good The Bart and The Loki, a 4 minutes short film, is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Actor Tom Hiddleston has lent his voice for the animated Loki in the short film. Written by Elisabeth Kiernan Averick, Jessica Conrad, John Frink, Al Jean and Jeff Westbrook, the short is directed by David Silverman.

The description of The Good The Bart and The Loki short film reads, “Banished from Asgard once again, Loki takes on the Simpsons and Springfield’s mightiest heroes.” If you wonder what the makers can show in just 4 minutes, well, the answer is a LOT. The short film is hilarious, has Marvel easter eggs and makes you love Loki and Tom Hiddleston’s voice more. The title keeps changing the font just the way we see it in the Loki series.

The Good The Bart and The Loki Review: In-depth analysis

The Simpsons: The Good The Bart and The Loki starts with Odin banishing Loki for his crimes against Asgard. Loki is unaffected and asks where his father will send him – New York, London, Paris? To which Odin answers – Springfield. Well, the God of Mischief is not pleased to be a part of the Simpson’s family.

But to everyone’s surprise, the Simpsons love Loki, especially Bart Simpson. But his sister Lisa Simpson is not happy. Loki banishes Lisa, and she comes across Thor’s Mjolnir. Lisa is worthy and possesses the power of Thor and lifts the hammer. The next thing we know is there’s a war between the Avengers of Springfield and Loki. It’s shown that Loki loses the war, but he’s the God of Mischief for a reason. The twist, in the end, shows nothing can stop the trickster from hurting anyone who trusts him.

The Good The Bart The Loki Review: Still 1
The Good The Bart The Loki Review: Still from the film

The Good The Bart and The Loki Disney+ short film is funny and takes a jibe at Disney for buying Marvel and Fox. You have to observe every scene keenly to notice the easter eggs. Tom Hiddleston sounds notorious as Loki with some modification to the voice. To be honest, he’s the best!

About getting Tom Hiddleston on board, Simpsons executive producer Al Jean told IGN that he’s a fan. Jean added, “He definitely seemed really happy. Really nice, incredible actor, but genuinely happy to be on The Simpsons and hear his voice next to Homer’s. I think that was the biggest aspect of it for him. That always blows me away, when someone you think is talented is a big fan of The Simpsons.”

MCU movies are known for their mid-credit and end-credit scenes. But the short film has so many such scenes that it gets hilariously annoying. It looks like the Simpsons makers have made fun of Marvel for making the fans wait till the end in most of their movies/series. My most favourite scene features Hulk and Loki.

The Good The Bart and The Loki Review: Is it worth watching?

Overall, the short film is a wonderful treat for the Simpsons and Loki fans. The Avengers who feature in it are weirdly funny. It’s made for enjoyment purposes. Some might say there was no need for the short film. But hey, you don’t always get to see a crossover between two big universes!
