– The Miracle of Teddy Bear Episode 3 Recap Contains Mild Spoilers –
The Miracle of Teddy Bear’s third episode opens with a rather sad revelation that Neung has been dead for ten years. The one connection Nut could make for Tofu no longer exists which makes the efforts put in stand to zero. However, when inquired about why Nut was not aware of Neung’s death, it takes us back to Neung’s graduation where Nut talked to him for the last time. During their high school conversation, audiences get to hear about Tarn, who turns out to be Neung’s batchmate and, was set to go to Chaing Mai after graduation. The flashback also explores a romantic line between Nut and Neung, which was possibly never pursued.
Meanwhile, Song drops off Gen to his family meeting during which the former pulls the latter’s leg. Song also takes it a step further and annoys Gen by adding him on Facebook. The request is accepted by Gen’s father, much to his annoyance. When Song returns back home, we see Saen looking at Neung’s pictures and, it is revealed that he is, in fact, Song’s father and, might also be Neung’s father too.
Back at Nut’s house, Tofu talks to the furniture wondering who was the special person who gave Nut Tofu as a teddy bear as Nut looks through Neung’s pictures on Facebook. The furniture and other items in the house theorize that Neung’s soul probably possessed Tofu’s body as a teddy bear when he died but, this theory is not pursued in conversation as the next day strikes. The following day brings in new struggles and troubles as Nut leaves his house without his lunch and, Tofu, unknowingly books a bike to reach Nut’s office where he is unable to pay because, of course, he does not know how the world works.
At Nut’s office, he is mistaken as an actor auditioning to be cast as the lead in the story written by Nut. Nut’s boss, Juea and the staff immediately take a liking for Tofu as he fits the role of an innocent gay boy perfectly. Tofu sees this opportunity as a chance to spend more time with Nut and grow closer to him by knowing his work, which prompts him to accept the offer of being an actor. Juea goes on to make Tofu do some screen tests with Nut as his partner, which is an adorable segment.
On the other side of the office, Gen gives Prib Nut’s draft and, says that it is based on Nut’s life and his first love. After reading Prib realizes Nut is gay and, rushes to the casting venue to talk to him when a hilarious mishap takes place. Tofu not knowing how to put on/remove clothes wear trousers with his zipper open, which Nut helps in pulling up. This is when Prib enters and screams at the reality of her imagination. When Nut stops and turns to look at Prib, Tofu’s pants drop, making him stand naked in front of the office as he wasn’t wearing any underpants. The segment is embarrassing, funny, odd and uncomfortable by the end.
Nut is seemingly angry after this incident and, with Tofu in tow goes to the mall. Nut realizes that Tofu hasn’t showered for days and, we slowly realize that Tofu isn’t accustomed to the human way of life. We see the duo spend their day in the mall, cherishing little pleasures of life like teddy bears and ice creams. Nut also buys Tofu clothes, teaches him how to brush and so many more things making this part of the episode heartwarming to watch. In fact, we even get to see Nut look loving at Tofu, which is rare but, should not be missed ever!
But all this happiness and, no evil eye would make the episode too utopian, right? Well, we have nosy neighbour Jan click pictures and Tofu and Nut spending their time together at the mall. She then goes to Na and, reveals that Tofu and Nut have been spending their day at the mall, all by themselves. Na does to react to Jan’s revelations and, instead dismisses her.
Back at the office Song comes to deliver food and beverages and Juea takes a liking to him and asks him for a screen test, much to Gen’s annoyance. Later Gen and Prib go out for dinner where Prib cries about Nut being gay. They are evidently joined by Song. Gen and Song help a drunk Prib to her house, during which Song and Gen share an accidental kiss.
In Nut’s house, he returns with Tofu and finds Na’s discarded pill and, realizes that Na has not been taking her medicines. In a flashback, we see the trauma Nut and his mother went through and why the pills were prescribed. At the present time, Na says that she isn’t taking the pills because then she will not be able to see Saen. Nut screams at her which scares her, but Tofu tries to protect her and show Nut some direction. Na faces a mental breakdown and, it is revealed through another flashback that Saen is not Nut’s father but, actually his uncle.
Saen had a twin brother who was Nut’s father, but if he was Nut’s biological father remains a mystery as Na seems very much in love with Saen, instead of the man she was married to. Tofu is also someone who is genuinely confused at what is happening and asks Nut who is actually father is as Na locks herself up in a room, to which Nut aggressively replies by slapping Tofu right across the face.
The neighbours and Gen break into Nut’s house at the commotion and, Gen tries to calm Nut down and bring him to his senses. Meanwhile, a wounded Tofu is helped by Jan, who tells him the reality. Jan takes Tofu to her house and, reveals that Saen is actually her husband. Na’s husband is Saen’s identical twin brother, Sibmeun. Jan had met Saen while he started working at her father’s company, which was also when he was dating Na. But, how the two ended up together is kept to be revealed in the next episode.
Final Thoughts: The Miracle of Teddy Bear Episode 3
Well well, the third episode is by far the most satisfactory and engaging one. Of course, Nut’s anger issues will get on your nerves, especially when he hits an innocent Tofu but, overall the revelations, turn of events and everything else keeps you invested. Gen and Song’s kiss, though seems a little rushed and forced and, isn’t a convincing enemies to lovers trope. As for Na’s pain, it is an emotional time every scene that has Na in it and, by far, she is the series’ most loving character.
