The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies Episode 4 Recap
This episode was more wholesome than ever, thanks to a new addition to the cast. Previously, we were introduced to Formalhaut, a colleague and friend of Mira, who expressed a desire to join our hero on his mission. Mira, who is secretly pursuing the magical girl under the guise of completing his mission, is less than thrilled about Formalhaut’s company. Unfortunately for him, Formalhaut is oblivious to Mira’s reluctance and has a dog-like personality that makes him hard to shake off.
Formalhaut is a cheerful, loyal presence who seems more inclined to fetch a ball than engage in evil deeds. He admires Mira for his ruthlessness, recalling a time when Mira was unflinching in crushing his enemies. Mira even once suggested that Formalhaut leave the evil organization because of his kind nature. What Formalhaut doesn’t realize, however, is that Mira has become more of a softy.

Despite this, Mira has to maintain appearances, especially in front of Formalhaut, so he fakes a fight with the magical girl. Determined to at least seem committed, Mira plans to defeat the heroine—until he sees Mimori running toward him in her charming, albeit revealing, magical girl outfit, which instantly deflates his resolve.

The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies Episode 5 Review

Today’s episode was definitely one of the most romantic that we have seen in this season. For the first time, we start the episode with the point of view of the lecherous cat who was supposed to look after Mimori. Here, we understand just how much he looked down upon our heroine. He knows that Mimori is a very good girl who is also ready to give up on things she likes. On top of that, he also describes her as being able to catch onto things more easily than others, meaning she has always been very observant. Hence, she was also easy to control as she hardly ever got attached to anything.
But things do change when this girl, who never put up a fight, finds someone precious to her. She was not a doll anymore, who would do whatever the cat wanted. On the other hand, Mira has been in a dilemma over what he must gift to his beloved as he is running out of newer options. That is when his underlings come forward to deliver news that they think will surely make the evil Lieutenant very happy.

He goes to inspect what it is and sees, Mimori captured and in shackles in front of him. This scene is hilarious because, at first, our hero was very gung-ho about this whole thing and he swiftly beat his subordinates for doing this. But then he realises that he quite likes the position they are in and has to fight a barrage of perverted thoughts running amok in his mind.
He tries his best to help Mimori get out of the situation, but the whole scene is just too tempting for our evil Lord. Plus, Mimori’s natural shyness and submissiveness did nothing to help our hero. Thankfully, things did not escalate and we also got some emotional elements from this episode. We finally see why Mimori thinks so little of herself. Plus, a twist towards the end, promised something more exciting in the next episode.

Verdict
I loved today’s episode as we see how much this ship has developed. Now, Mimori can be more honest with her companion without being self-conscious. We also had plenty of comedy, but again, these episodes are just too short to enjoy the whole anime properly.
