The Last of Us Episode 8 Review
The latest instalment of the post-apocalyptic series takes a dark turn and looms into a chapter of cult worship. The episode starts with a preacher named David, who found his God after the end of the world and formed a group of believers, willing to do nearly anything he asks for. Moreover, after a brief round of morning summons, we are introduced to a recovering Joel, in need of immediate medical assistance.
Ellie heads the episode as the protector and leader until she crosses paths with David, someone who carries out similar duties for his group. Furthermore, friction in the instalment is generated when the latter comes out clearly, with his intention of killing Joel and taking Ellie as a possible successor. Therefore, this led to a series of cold-blooded repercussions.

The episode is filled with an air of tension surrounding the characters, especially Ellie. It’s the second time we have seen the gutsy teenager taking on the world for Joel, completely on his own. Moreover, the series has also done a great job of pointing out the intricacies in her characters, with nearly two back-to-back standalone episodes.
Even though the series is coming to an end, the makers did not shy away from venturing into a side mission episode. Something which eventually worked as a setting for Ellie’s character development. Furthermore, the series gained its initial traction due to clickers and fungal-infected carnage, but since then, it has successfully translated into a mature show, that has way more to offer than just a zombie saga.

Pedro Pascal gets to do very little in the episode but makes sure to leave his impact. David, played by Scott Shepherd, portrays a brilliant rendition of the preacher, who knows how to head a group of individuals, with a round of unpredictable cynicism.
On the other hand, Bella Ramsey is the main takeaway from the episode. She manages to carry out the complete momentum of the instalment and transforms into different shades, ranging from fear and bravery.
Final Thoughts

Something tells me that the fans are waiting for an explosive finale episode, that might elevate the stature of the series to new heights. As of now, the series has successfully managed to hit all the right notes (with one exception) and has all the arsenal to lead to a worthy climax. Moreover, whatever the case may be, the perilous journey of Joel and Ellie is just getting started.
