The Kidnapping Day Episode 6 Recap and Review: Reunion, Capture and a New Game

The Kidnapping Day (유괴의 날) is a comedy thriller Kdrama directed by Park Yoo-young and based on the novel of the same Korean name “Yugwaei Nal” by writer Jung Hae-yeon. The drama stars Yoon Kye-sang, Park Sung-hoon, Yu Na, Kim Shin-rok, Kim Sang-ho, and Seo Je-hee alongside other cast members.

The drama tells the story of a helpless father who accepts the idea of kidnapping a rich kid goes wrong when he finds out that the little one’s parents are dead. The little girl has already lost her memory due to an accident before her kidnapping and the man claims to be her father. However, the little girl soon uncovers his web of lies while he tries to investigate what really happened.

The show will have 12 episodes and be broadcast on ENA at the Wednesday-Thursday slot at 9:00 PM KST time slot previously occupied by Longing for YouThe Kidnapping Day episode 6 has a run time of 60 minutes.

The synopsis of the show reads:

A father turned clumsy kidnapper and a genius child working together to uncover the truth behind a series of murders and mysteries.

Episode 6 begins with a flashback of Jayden approaching Choi Jin-tae to invest in his project which was also the first time he met Ro-hee. The scene then shifts to the present when Ro-hee’s escape fails after meeting Jayden, and while she tries until the end, she is unable to escape. Right then Eun-sun arrives and takes Ro-hee with her and tells her that this project is important to many.

However, Ro-hee only asks to make sure that Myung-joon is not hurt and brought to her as soon as possible. While Ro-hee waits, Jayden plans to take Ro-hee away with him while making the other investors withdraw their investments. Meanwhile, a fight breaks out on the boat that was meant to smuggle Myung-joon out.

Making use of this fight, Myung-joon threatens the driver and makes him take him back. Elsewhere, Sang-yoon informs his superior about his findings and how Hye-eun is connected to the case when he gets a visit from the nurse in charge of Hee-ae. She tells him that Myung-joon has come to visit his daughter and there’s a possibility that he has left to go somewhere far.

This makes him think that Myung-joon may have tried to escape from the country and tells his men to find out where Myung-joon went from the hospital. The next day, Ro-hee negotiates with Jayden and lets him know that she only trusts Myung-joon and wants him with her or else she will ruin his investment project. She also does not fear death and doesn’t care if he wants to kill her after the torture she has already gone through in the past.

Meanwhile, Myung-joon returns to the docks where he departed form only to come across Sang-yoon and soon getting caught by the latter. Then, on the way to the police station, he tells Sang-yoon about the yellow siren Ro-hee saw and about the place she is being held in. However, before he can reveal further information, a truck dashes into them and he is taken away by Ho-young.

Elsewhere, Cheol-won resigns from his job and decides to finish his last task when having dinner with the doctor from the hospital- Yoon Jeong-do. On the other hand, Sang-yoon wakes up and tells his superior about what Myung-joon told him, further asking him to investigate Cheol-won. However, his superior is not ready to believe a kidnapper and is not ready to investigate Cheol-won.

Unfortunately, Sang-yoon has to make his way to Cheol-won later when he gets the report that Cheol-won has attacked Jeong-do. Sang-yoon arrests Cheol-won who then confesses that he had killed Choi Jin-tae for money and it was unintentional. However, he was not the one who killed Jin-tae’s wife.

As for harming Jeong-do, Cheol-won tells him that it was he who was the unlicensed doctor who performed surgery on his wife and child and this was his way of stopping Jeong-do from doing something similar in the future. As for the kidnapping, he has no idea about it and has nothing to say about his picture with Hye-eun.

Elsewhere, Myung-joon wakes up to the news of Cheol-won being caught after which he is taken to meet Jayden with Ro-hee. There he attacks Jayden for having tried to kill him after which they prepare to have a proper talk. Turns out, the virus used in this genius child project has only one vial left and only Choi Jin-tae knows about the compositions of this experiment.

Now, only his diary contains notes of everything that has to do with this experiment and for this they will have to go back to the house where the incident happened. Later, Ro-hee finds out that all internet service has been blocked by Jayden while Myung-joon has a hearty conversation with Ho-young.

The next day, Jayden meets Choi Jin-tae’s uncle who is next in line for his inheritance after Ro-hee. Jayden tells him that he will help him get the inheritance and the only way to do this is by pronouncing Ro-hee dead. Soon, Ho-young captures the boat captain and the scene of Ro-hee’s death is set up.

Soon, the news of Ro-hee’s death and her body being thrown into the sea by Myung-joon is spread and while Myung-joon is triggered by this, Ro-hee plans the next step. She first finds information about her nominal family by sneakily accessing the internet on Eun-sun’s phone after which tells Myung-joon to play his role of a kidnapper again.

Later, Myung-joon calls Choi Taek-kyun and tells him that Ro-hee is with him and he needs to prepare 30 billion Won to get her back.

The Kidnapping Day Episode 6 Review

Episode 6 has begun a new game as Ro-hee uses her intelligence and wit to make a comeback against Jayden, but what will be the end of this game? Meanwhile, our biggest suspect Cheol-won has been taken into custody, but why does it suddenly feel like he is not the real mastermind behind this?

This also brings our attention to Hye-eun and the chairman whom Eun-sun has been contacting for quite some time now. Is it possible that they are the same person? And has Hye-eun been planning this as revenge for a very long time, which is why she has been in contact with Cheol-won.

This episode has opened up a barrage of questions for us and also made the show all the more intriguing. As we look at how things are going to go henceforth, we are also halfway through the show which only brings up the intensity of the Kdrama.
