The Kidnapping Day Episode 12 Recap

Episode 12 begins with the news of Myung-joon’s arrest and Ro-hee being alive taking over headlines as Hye-eun makes the choice to help Jayden. However, Hee-ae is not ready to let go of her mother and her pleading face reminds Hye-eun of her own past which only angers her.

Elsewhere, Ro-hee uses Choi Dong-jun to get Sang-yoon out of prison so that they can plan how to get Myung-joon out of prison, and the only way they can see is through investigating the murder case. The trio soon get to work when Hye-eun steals the laptop from Ro-hee’s house to take to Jayden.

Jayden is pleased with her work and promises to forget about the money she took from him while Ro-hee decides to charge Jayden with a theft case to get her necklace and laptop back. Meanwhile, Sang-yoon also gets confirmation from a video analyst that the dashcam footage from the day of the incident has captured two different people entering and exiting Ro-hee’s house on the day of the incident.

While everyone rejoices that they can now go after Hye-eun, Ro-hee stops them as this is not enough evidence and asks if their chief likes to be on television. She then meets the chief tells him about the dashcam and asks him to give a statement to the press while also trying to get her necklace and laptop which are important evidence in this case.

Soon, Jayden is captured by Sang-yoon while the news about there being a female suspect makes headlines and scares Hye-eun. She then begins to look for ways to get out of the country while Sang-yoon approaches Myung-joon and tells him to hang on as Ro-hee wishes for him to be by her side one day.

Meanwhile, a lawyer from the X Company arrives to meet Jayden making him think that he is here to get him out of prison. Unfortunately for Jayden, the man has other plans as he hands him over a drugged drink, introduces himself as Ha-young’s brother and lets him know that he is now of no use to the company. With this, Jayden’s story comes to an end.

On the other hand, Ro-hee collaborates with the police and has them prepare to get Hye-eun’s confession on camera at her grandfather Choi Dong-eok’s house. This is also to make Hye-eun reminisce about her memories and make her vulnerable enough to make a confession. She then calls Hye-eun and invites her to the house to move forward with her plan.

The next day, Sang-yoon also gets Myung-joon out of prison for this moment so that he too can witness Hye-eun’s truth. Hye-eun arrives at the house and is called by Ro-hee to the garden where she sees the camera on the tree and understands Ro-hee’s intentions. She mentions Myung-joon and Hee-ae and later mentions how she blackmailed her father into giving her money which spread rumours about them having an affair.

However, Hye-eun is worried that Ro-hee really remembers what happened that night. Ro-hee then speaks of what happened that night and says that Hye-eun was caught trying to get Choi Jin-tae’s research out of his safe. But after this, he revealed that he would build a story of how she got into a fight with his wife and the two women killed each other which is when Hye-eun saw a knife in his hand and his wife’s body on the floor.

Hye-eun then tried to escape but ended up killing Choi Jin-tae and this is where Ro-hee’s story ends which assures Hye-eun that Ro-hee doesn’t remember what happened that night. She laughs at Ro-hee’s bluffing and stands to leave but Ro-hee is not ready to give up and continues to instigate her, finally pointing at how Myung-joon and Hee-ae are now on her side which ends up making Hye-eun lose her cool.

While she states that she pulled Myung-joon into this as she had to go through the pain meant for him, she cannot stand the idea of anyone taking what is hers. Finally, she ends up confessing how Ro-hee should be thankful to her for having killed a father like Choi Jin-tae who had only hurt her.

Ro-hee gets the confession she had been waiting for and Sung-yoon also makes his move while Myung-joon is unable to stop staring at the screen. Seeing the police coming their way, Hye-eun is now sure that there is no way for her to get out of this and takes out a scalpel with which she cuts her hand before pointing it at Ro-hee.

Aware that this can give Ro-hee HIV, she holds the scalpel at Ro-hee’s throat and threatens the cops when Myung-joon arrives and talks to the little girl inside Hye-eun who only wants to be loved. He tells her that everything will be alright and saves Ro-hee while assuring Hye-eun that he can never hate her for what she has done.

In the following days, Sang-yoon made a statement in front of the media about the case coming to a close and how it was Hye-eun who was the real culprit. Her motive behind the murder was Choi Jin-tae’s money and nothing else. Meanwhile, Ro-hee appears in front of the judge during Myung-joon’s court hearing and when she is told that she is doing this due to sympathy, she makes it clear that Myung-joon gave her the happiest moments of her life.

She then returns home where Taek-kyun hands her the wooden back scratcher that Myung-joon had sent for her as a gift.

Seeing this she remembers the time when she first met Myung-joon and bursts out crying in this cold and empty house. Meanwhile, we see Sang-yoon’s meeting with Park Cheol-won and how after that the latter remembers the night when he saw Hye-eun in the corner of Jin-tae’s house after she killed him.

Adamant to save her, he asked her to put on his extra uniform and leave when Ro-hee saw him near the crime scene. He then tried to take her away when Hye-eun put her to sleep again before leaving the house.

In the following days, Ro-hee makes sure to visit Myung-joon and tells him about her plans to get Hee-ae to join an international school. While he is frustrated by Ro-hee making all these decisions he doesn’t complain much and asks her to join the school too. Ro-hee is not ready to comply as she is already pretty smart but Myung-joon pushes her to join the school and even tells her to go to school and work on her social skills.

While this offends her a little, she abides by this and joins the school with Hee-ae, having Taek-kyun drop the two girls off to school on their first day. However, Ro-hee’s introduction of herself in front of the class is quite stiff until she remembers Myung-joon’s words and finally gives a more normal self-introduction.

Elsewhere, Eun-seun arrives in Singapore and goes to one of the addresses given to her by Ro-hee. However, she is soon in for a shock when she sees a girl solving advanced maths problems and looks the same as Ro-hee.
