The Hardy Boys Season 2: a Little Stranger Things, a Little Locke & Key

The Hardy Boys Season 2 really takes the dialogue of ”will a second season be worth it?” and, proves to the audiences how even in this era a second season is not necessarily a disappointment. In fact, it has the capability of being better than the first one!

As the trailer reveals, the second season of The Hardy Boys picks up six months after the events of the first one. Frank and Joe are living a normal teenage life after being reunited with their father in the first season. But, the normalcy of things is disturbed when Dennis, Joe’s classmate mysterious goes missing. This plotline becomes the heart of the entire series and, the Hardy boys along with their crew of teenage detectives are back on their feet to solve yet another Bridgeport case.

However, as the group slowly threads deeper into the case, the old town’s buried secrets surface, dark and gritty. With the town fixated on the summer solstice ‘Demon Week’ celebration, revelations leave the group shocked as the supernatural relic- The Eye, that our main characters seemingly destroyed in the previous season might not actually have been destroyed.

The Hardy Boys Season 2 stands out in terms of storytelling and narrative. The second season does not linger around frivolous subplots, which the first season did- mostly, in order to slowly build a foundation for our characters. Picking up only six months after the events of the first season, the writers have made sure that we dive right into the mystery at the heart of the series. As we go through the episodes, we are never distracted by the romantic subplots or the moments of cherished friendship or disagreement, serving us a perfectly balanced plate of everything important and relevant.

All of our characters returning from the first season get a better arc, with Frank and Joe’s character development being one of the most interesting ones. It is teenage character arcs that are usually exaggerated or misinterpreted but, The Hardy Boys Season 2 makes sure it gives the two brothers their own share of squabble and synchronization. The introduction of new characters, especially, the villains are also not a letdown. The camera work along with the sound make up the absolute ambience necessary for a suspenseful drama, which is what makes you stay hooked to the show as the episodes roll one after the other.

The Hardy Boys Season 2: Final Verdict

Overall, The Hardy Boys Season 2 is a win-win when it comes to offering the viewers aspects of both the drama and the mystery genre. It also delves deeper into the aspect of supernatural horror. It surely will impress fans of Stranger Things and Locke & Key, if not rival the two fan-favourite Netflix series. It is compelling and intense with a dash of endearing friendships and a realistic portrayal of brotherhood.
