The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated Episode 7 Review- The Characters
Jahy might have the looks and mannerisms of a cat, but her interactions with others prove her to be a little bit of a chameleon. It’s not like she changes herself in order to accommodate others, her natural personality is enough to establish some fantastic dynamics with literally everyone she meets. There’s not a dull moment when Jahy’s around. The show even keeps introducing new characters to test her against them, and she hasn’t once failed.
This episode completes the introduction of all the characters featured in the opening song, with the two young kids both making an appearance. While the jury is still out on the boy, the girl, Kokoro, has instantly become my favourite character in the show. Her enthusiasm and genuine demeanour made her an instant highlight of the episode. Her interaction with Jahy was ridiculously sweet, warm and very much appreciated in this cruel world. That applies to both me and Jahy, of course.
We haven’t seen Druj and Salwa in a while, which is a bummer, but I’m sure they’ll pop in soon enough. The new characters are just as great as those two, and I am enjoying the current interactions of jahy a lot. Except for the Boss and Landlady, we don’t see any of the other characters interacting, which needs to change. I need a montage of Druj kicking the magical girl around, stat.
The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated Episode 7 Review- The Plot
Jahy is on the warpath to get her stolen mana crystal back. It didn’t hurt as much this time to see her lose the mana crystal, maybe because she deserved it for standing around the body and gloating about her victory. The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated Episode 7 reinforces the concept of Karma in the show, as every time Jahy does something good for anyone, she gets rewarded. The same applies to when she messes up and goes back some a few steps in her journey.
Other than that, the episode was fairly standard by Jahy-Sama standards. The comedy was on-point throughout the episode and watching it brightened my day up quite a bit. There were three acts to it, and all three of them served a different purpose. The first one reestablished Jahy’s connection with an old character, the second one was a pure comedy skit, and the third part was the introduction of Kokoro, a new character. The parts worked well with each other and gelled quite nicely.
The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated Episode 7 Review- Art and Music
I watched a part of the show muted to see how much of an impact the voice artists have in The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated Episode 7. The results weren’t surprising, as the voice talent worked hard to make this show as good as it is. While the skits were still funny, the show loses a lot of its charm and personality without those specific voice actors. I know, big surprise, right?
The animation isn’t anything to write home about, but it is still very smooth, and there aren’t any bad frames to complain about. It is clear that a lot of love and work went into creating this show, and I appreciate every second of it.
The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated Episode 7 is part of the feel-good anime of this season. The episodes never fail in rejuvenating a bad day or refreshing a tired mind. It might not be as mysterious or consequential as some of the other anime that are being featured, but it damn sure is the most fun.
