The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated Episode 18 Review- Plot and Characters

Saurva JAhy

Jahy shares some interesting dynamics with the other characters, most of them good. Druj, Jingu, and Kokoro highly respect her while she worships the ground the Dark Lord walks on. The Boss and the Landlord treat her as a child and help her out whenever she needs it, helping her become a better human being. Her dynamic with Saurva is the one Thanos and Scarlet Witch had in the Avengers movies- one hates the other while the other doesn’t even know of the other’s existence.

With Saurva receiving power at the end of the last episode from a shadowy golden figure, naturally, the first thing she does with it is challenging Jahy to a duel. The duo meets face to face for the first time, and the confrontation is great! It went exactly like one can imagine, mostly comedic elements followed by a little action and the showcase of Jahy’s good side and nature. The confrontation also ended well, feeling complete while still leaving some space to be filled by later episodes.

Kokoro Jahy The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated Episode 18

The other plot points of The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated Episode 18 also had a lot to do with the show’s speedily approaching ending. The segment with Jahy thinking she lost Kokoro as a friend forever was considerably disheartening, showcasing Kokoro’s importance as a character in the show and Jahy’s life. Generally, child characters in shows can be very annoying if not written properly. However, Kokoro couldn’t be more different, having a calming and loving presence every time she is on screen.

As the ending draws ever so near, the show has started tying up some loose ends from earlier on. We have started receiving the long-awaited answers to some questions that we didn’t even know were more than random comedy bits scattered about here and there. The golden silhouette, the magical girl, the dark lord and all of Jahy’s friends are coming together cohesively in Jahy Sama Episode 18, and it was great to see it.

The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated Episode 18 Review- Art and Music

Jahy-Sama Episode 18 tried something new, hoping to disperse some horror elements alongside the show’s usual comedy and drama side. It did that while playing the show’s usual goofy music on top of the generic horror sounds, which ended up feeling as unnatural as horror has ever felt. It would have been more effective if it dropped the cheery music just this once, but it wasn’t to be. The animation was nothing special, exactly like the previous outings with nothing standing out.

Verdict

The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated Episode 18 was a good episode and went in the right direction for the show to end on. The next episode should answer a lot more questions about the story.
