The Golden Spoon Episodes 5 and 6 Review: Seung-cheon is Back with a Plan

The Golden Spoon (금수저) is a drama-thriller TV series that follows the story of a young man who is given the chance to change and leave behind his poor life in exchange for the lavish life of his friend. Directed by Song Hyun-wook, the drama stars Yook Sung-jae, Lee Jong-won, Jung Chae-yeon, Yeon Woo and Choi Dae-chul, alongside other cast members.

The 16 episodes drama premiered on September 23, 2022, and releases new episodes every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM KST on MBC taking over the timeslot previously occupied by Big Mouth. The Golden Spoon episodes 5 and 6 have a run time of 77 minutes long each.

Disney+Hotstar’s synopsis of the show reads:

The Golden Spoon episodes 5 and 6 really hit us right at the spot to capture our attention and we are definitely loving this intensity. The plot has finally taken off this week and the excitement for the upcoming episodes has hit another stage. With Seung-cheon going back to his original life, the old woman promises to meet him again after a year.

The Golden Spoon episode 5 shows Seung-cheon’s decision to never wishing to meet the old woman again or go back to Tae-yong’s life, but is set on working hard and staying with his family. However, a turn of events has bee indebted to Yeon-jin who wishes to have him go back to being Hwang Tae-yong.

A time skip of one year brings us to the now graduated students who are ready for college, however, things aren’t as easy for Seung-cheon. Having had no contact with Ju-hee for a year, the two come face to face because of Yeon-jin’s intervention. But it is only after the four gather at Tae-yong’s house that Ju-hee finds out about Seung-cheon and his family being enslaved by Yeon-jin’s family.

The two them confess their feelings to each other and get together. On the other hand, Joon-tae is slowly making his way into Hyun-do’s good books while things are clearly not well for Ju-hee’s father.

The next day, Ju-hee makes her way to Yeon-jin’s house to talk to her about Seung-cheon and makes her way to Yeon-jin’s room. She is followed inside with Tae-yong who has come to visit Seung-cheon and starts looking around the room. He finds a golden spoon hidden in a flower vase and remembers something like this to be belonging to Seung-cheon.

Elsewhere, Yeon-ji has called Seung-cheon to meet alone outside where she reveals his secret and brings out his golden spoon. When he refuses to become Tae-yong once again, she throws the spoon into the pond.

The Golden Spoon episode 6 begins from her and Yeon-jin reveals that the spoon was a fake and she wanted to check his desire for the spoon. Back in her room, Seung-cheon’s mother enters and the two make their way outside for lunch where Seung-cheon’s father is working at the grill while being scolded by Yeon-jin’s father.

Tae-yong is unable to stay quite and finds a way to control CEO Oh, which gives Seung-cheon’s parents a relief. However, while leaving he makes Sun-hye realise how bad Seung-cheon must be feeling with his parents working at a friend’s house.

On the other hand, Ju-hee tries to makes Yeon-jin stop her bad behaviour against Seung-cheon. Elsewhere, Na Sang-gook goes to Hyun-do for help but is rejected by him and the engagement between the two families is broken. While he returns home worried, Seung-cheon’s parents are in no good condition either after the day’s incident.

The next day, Seung-cheon tries to sneak inside Yeon-jin’s room to find his golden spoon but his efforts are in vain and Yeon-jin sees him in her room. Having had enough of all this, he decides to give up on the spoon.

He then spends a fun date with Ju-hee and things seem to be going good between them. Elsewhere, CEO Oh has told Seung-cheon’s parents to move out of the house while returning his money.

Unable to do anything, Seung-cheon still does not want to use the spoon. Later, he continues to work on his investments but upon suddenly remembering his friend Jin-seok, he decides to go to his house. There he meets a weird lady who later reveals looking for her spoon after Seung-cheon leaves.

Seung-cheon continues investing in stocks after borrowing some money from his sister. On the other hand, Tae-yong is not happy after having his engagement broken. Elsewhere, however, CEO Oh tries to make a move on Sun-hye which shocks her but Seung-cheon also notices what happened from a distance.

Seung-cheon is unable to bear his anger and goes out to drink where the old woman appears once again. On the other hand, Tae-yong is investigating the incident that happened years back. He even sneaks inside Seo Young-sin’s room for find anything related to information about the incident.

While the information takes him to meet Na Sang-gook. Seung-cheon has found out that his stock has plummeted and he rushes to save himself from loss. However, by the time he could reach back home, the market has already been closed.

Seung-cheon finally decides to use his spoon and rushes to Yeon-jin to get back his spoon. Elsewhere, Tae-yong has come to visit Na Sang-gook to ask him about the incident. However, Na Sang-gook’s words shock him as he rushes out from there at a face pace.

On the other hand, Seung-cheon bids Ju-hee goodbye in his own after having decided to become Hwang Tae-yong. While Ju-hee goes back home to find out that Na Sang-gook is dead. The next morning, Tae-yong wakes up without any knowledge of what had happened the previous night.

He then rushes out of the house and tries to kill himself while taking the blame for Na Sang-gook’s death. He then rushes to kill himself, however, Yeon-jin arrives on time to save him.On the other hand, Seung-cheon runs inside Tae-yong’s house with the spoon, quickly grabs a bite and once again becomes Hwang Tae-yong.

This has to be among the best episode till now and now that th story has finished laying its foundation, we are finally getting to the real plot of the story which only makes excited.
