The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Episode 2 Review- A Fantastic Follow-Up

Ninym The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt Episode 2

Fantasy sports have always been big in some countries such as the USA and are even catching steam in developing countries like India. The basic gist of the game is that you build your own squad out of all the characters in a match or a league who are all distributed based on the skill level of the players. Everyone knows who the heavy hitters are and the performances they are capable of, and thus owning them is costly and requires much more budget scrutiny.

Any player worth their salt knows that you win games by drafting the one low-cost player, who is only there because everybody looked over them, who then blew everyone out of the water with their performance. The point of this long-winded explanation in this review of Genius Prince Episode 2 is that if there was an anime fantasy league, I believe the underdog who overperforms and amazes everyone is The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt.

Wein The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt Episode 2

You’ve got your giants like Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan roaming around like they own the place, as almost every other show this season is in danger of going under the radar of viewers due to the sheer popularity of those two series. It’s harder to stand out, but that only means that its quality is undeniable if a show does manage to stand out. I’ve really liked what this show has put out so far, and I have high hopes for its future.

The concept is tremendous and turns the entire concept of a fantasy royal anime on its head. The main character, Wein, is extremely competent, even though he’d rather be doing anything else than rule. His plans make sense, and so do his motivations. We get why he makes good decisions despite not wanting to do the same, and he isn’t boring like a certain other protagonist of a realistic isekai. His antics make you root for him.

His partner in crime, Ninym, is just as level headed and calming as she is pretty, and the dynamic between her and Wein is great. The show addresses some interesting parts of running a kingdom and skips over the boring bits. The show doesn’t have the biggest budget but uses it to make its battles even more interesting. It doesn’t seem forced or disappointing for a second. The battles are entertaining because of the mind games, which also don’t feel unreal and unnatural like a lot of other similar shows.

The Genius Prince’s Guide Episode 2 was a great follow-up to the series and has caused me to expect great things for the show. It’s better not to get too excited since it can all go bad in quite literally a second, but for now, I really like this show and think that it can be one of the great ones from this season. Let’s see if this fantasy anime league pick turns out to be a fruitful one!

Verdict
