Wein vs Sirgis The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt Episode 12

Wein finally met someone who was more intrigued by him than underestimated him, and it cost him dearly. King Gruyere has been one of the better characters in the show so far, mostly because of how wise and regal he seems all the time. Even if he might not look it, his tactics and conversations placed him every bit of Wein’s equal in most avenues. Wein’s arrogance nearly cost him everything in the last episode, and that fits perfectly well as the final arc present in the anime.

Wein started off as a guy who could not give a toss about his kingdom when the show began. When given even the faintest taste of victory and success, it was natural that a guy like him would succumb to the enticing profits of his position. The manner the show went about it was entertaining and was thematically perfect. It was supposed to be a redemption arc for Wein, and while it was highly unconventional, it utilised the set pieces the show had already built up so far and delivered upon a good final episode.

Commander The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt Episode 12

The Genius Prince’s Guide Episode 12 involved some things from most other adventures Wein had been in earlier, giving it an impression of a dynamic story that’s being affected by everything that came before it. The politics in Wein’s world is ever-changing and exhausting at times and doesn’t exactly make sense every time. Still, it is a world where decisions matter and alliances stick around until they are broken and are not just there for plot conveniences and progression.

This episode saw Wein wager the entirety of what he owned in a humongous bluff to counteract the decisions made by Prime Minister Sirgis and King Gruyere. There was a tinge of plot armour in the ai as Wein laid all his cards out, and the plan seemed far fetched, but it was grounded in reality and based on the decisions Wein had already made in the past. One could look at it as him reaping whatever he sowed, and every single good or bad thing that he accomplished came together to lead to what happened next.

The series ended in a satisfying manner, with Wein’s story coming a full circle from where it started. Genius Prince Episode 12 was just as grounded and realistic as Episode 1, and despite how far our favourite characters have come along, there is still much further to go. King Gruyere’s involvement was fantastic until the end, and so was Wein and Ninym’s fantastic chemistry. If it weren’t for Marin and Gojo from My Dress-up darling, these two would have been anyone’s pick for the couple of the season. Overall, a fun time!

Verdict

The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt Episode 12 was a satisfying finale to the series that put everything the heroes had done so far into a simmering pot and made a great meal out of it. We have come far, but not far enough still.
