The much-awaited 16th episode of The Eminence in Shadow (陰の実力者になりたくて!) is here, and it has again managed to deliver a delightful watch. We got action, comedy and many more from this already cast-heavy series. So without further ado, let us jump right into this review.
The Eminence in Shadow Episode 16 Overview

This series has garnered quite the hype after its release. And the credit surely goes to good animation, a relatable male lead and a bunch of beautiful anime girls who are sure to start waifu wars.
The anime is directed by Nakanishi Kazuya, who is also famous for his work with Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, Trinity Seven, Strike the Blood, etc. Nexus studio is handling the animation, which despite not being very famous in its field, is delivering satisfactory results as of now.
I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

The Eminence in Shadow Episode 16 Review and Recap – The Dark Horse Of The Festival
The 16th episode of The Eminence in Shadow is here, and we are back with another review. The episode starts with the fact that Rose is on the run after hurting her fiance, who is a noble in her Kingdom. We witness a discussion about this incident and get more details about what happened from Beta posing as Natsume and Princess Alexia.

From them, we get to know that because Rose is a princess of the Oriana Kingdom, her case is being dealt with special care. The Midgar Kingdom cannot blindly investigate or pass judgement on her as that can lead to bad foreign relations with Oriana.
Rose also deliberately did not tell anything to her new teammates about her intention of stabbing her fiance. Both Alexia and Beta understand it to be a move taken by her so that there are no problems between the two kingdoms and thus decide to do their personal investigation on this whole matter.
On the other hand, we must not forget that the Bushin festival is still ongoing. There Cid has a strange encounter with a mysterious elf. She was looking for someone who looked exactly like her, as that person was supposed to be her niece.

When she asks Cid whether he knows any elf who looks like her, he immediately recognises a resemblance between Alpha and her. But he blatantly lies to her and says he knows no one like that. She attacks him, suspecting Cid to be a strong opponent, but with his Oscar-worthy acting skills, he could pose as a weak background character and avoid any problems.
But this is not all; in the festival, everybody is curious about the new weak-looking entry Mundane Mann, which is Cid in disguise. How can someone who looks like that and gives out an aura of an extremely powerless person could defeat every opponent with ease? Cid even manages to one-shot Unbeaten Legend with just his sneeze. The audience and the fighters, most prominently Annerose, are shocked but still understand that this man is a dark horse who can change the tide of the whole game.

Verdict
Contrary to what we believed, this episode focused more on Mundane Mann and the Bushin festival rather than the case of Rose Oriana. We did meet Perv Asshat, the fiance of Rose, and he seemed to be downright evil. What actually transpired between Rose and Perv will most likely be revealed in the next episode. Watch this anime on Netflix.
