The Crowded Room First Look: Tom Holland, Amanda Seyfried and Emmy Rossum Shine in Muted Tones

Apple TV+ is releasing another interesting anthology series, and The Crowded Room first look shows viewers what the tone of the show will be. There will be ten episodes in the first season, with the first episode starring Tom Holland as Billy Milligan. Additionally, Amanda Seyfried and Emmy Rossum are also present in the stills shared by the streaming platform. This show is created by the Academy Award-winning writer Akiva Goldsman who will also serve as the executive producer of the show alongside Holland.

Other cast members also include Emma Laird, Henry Eikenberry, Sasha Lane, Sam Vartholomeos, Christopher Abbott, Lior Raz, Will Chase, Thomas Sadoski, Laila Robins, Henry Zaga and Jason Isaacs, alongside many others. The episodes will be directed by Kornél Mundruczó and will be composed by Trevor Gureckis. This show is based on the novel The Minds of Billy Milligan by Daniel Keyes, whose story the first episode explores.

The show is a collection of stories from people who have struggled and successfully lived their lives with mental illnesses. Holland will be playing the character Billy Milligan who was the first person to get acquitted of a crime because of multiple personality disorder (now known as dissociative identity disorder). Amanda Seyfried seems to be his therapist in the show because there is a still of her sitting opposite Tom Holland, engaged in some kind of intense discussion.

Holland looks laid-back and poised, like he has been feeling absolutely calm in front of this doctor. In one of the other stills, Seyfried is seen in a classroom, standing in front of the blackboard while wearing formal attire and looking at something on her left. She seems to be taking the class in this scenario, stopping when something distracts her. Tom Holland is seen in two stills, one being the therapy session and the other being a solo shot with him looking towards his right, ruminating about something.

In this sombre shot, it can be inferred that he is being plagued by some doubts about his own identity and the things he will have to do to convince people of his innocence. Meanwhile, Emmy Rossum looks completely removed from this setting and is in a car, sitting with a child who may be assumed to be her son. We see her in an old car running her hands gently through her child’s hair, while they look longingly at their guardian. There is a possibility that this picture is from a different episode focusing on her life as she lives with a different mental illness.

The Crowded Room will be coming to Apple TV+ on June 9, 2023. What are you expecting to see in the show? Let us know in the comments below.
