The Biggest Fan Review: Goofy Mexican Comedy Film That is Fun While it Lasts

The Biggest Fan Review: Netflix’s new Mexican movie is goofy and fun, but has its cringeworthy moments as it takes us behind the scenes of a film set where an actor tries to rebuild her career. The film has its moments, but also comes with a typical comedy plot that we have seen one too many times. However, that doesn’t diminish the charm that it carries for most of the part.

The plot of the film follows an actress who is disgraced over the internet after a clip of her accidentally hitting a fan makes everyone turn their backs on her. This results in her career in Hollywood almost coming to an end. Right then, she receives an offer that takes her back to Mexico, and this may be her only chance to fix her career. But even the desperation of saving her career couldn’t prepare her for a fan who is both her saviour and her biggest nightmare.

Whenever there is a film being made within a film, we know that a dramatic and exaggerated performance is sure to show up in more than one place. The better the contrast between these filming and non-filming scenes, the better the performance of the actors. This film manages to create a stark contrast between these scenes, and I have to say, I have loved how well the cast has acted in the film. Not a single character is out of place, and the way they all live their characters is what brings you the perfect experience.

While the performance of the cast is noteworthy, the plot keeps things light and fun during your viewing experience. There is exaggeration, drama, comedy, and a silly, playful vibe that keeps you hooked to the film. You know where the film is going, yet the scenes that pop up along the way are perfect for the overall vibe that it is trying to create. I love how light everything is kept, yet the two main characters are given just the right amount of depth to bring some meaning to their stories.

You see a woman who has been in the film industry since her childhood, and has been giving up on her personal life for the screen. So when the fans whom she has worked hard for all her life leave her in this devastating state, it is obvious that she would find herself broken and unable to cope with the changes. On the other hand, we have a young fan for whom this actor has created some of the most memorable and final moments with her mother. So when she finds this actor different from the image that she had of her, the disappointment and heartbreak pile up, which makes her take some stupid decisions.

These two characters have a story of their own, and they don’t know about the life the other has lived. This becomes the focal point of the film, which then generates a story that goes beyond being a goofy comedy. It is life that is shown here, and how easily some things can be solved.

Summing Up

The Biggest Fan brings the story of an actor and her fan who takes it upon herself to fix her idol’s career, but things aren’t as simple. This film is goofy, playful, and intriguing to watch, but it isn’t something that will stay in your mind for long. It is a simple watch for a lazy afternoon, where this movie will bring you some feel-good moments.
