– The Bengal Scam Bima Kando Review Contains Mild Spoilers –

When I started watching The Bengal Scam Bima Kando too early in the morning, I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be a joke of a thriller. The series has two people who are at the helm of it, and both of these characters, the good guy Samudra and the bad guy Bidyut, are equally stupid in different but weirdly similar ways, and both will make you want to tear your hair out.

The Bengal Scam Bima Kando is a series that you sometimes wish did not exist. All of the characters are simply so annoying and unlikeable, and their “special quirks” that are supposed to be funny or something will just leave your skin crawling.

For example, Samudra’s quirk is that he never takes anything seriously, leaves jobs at the drop of a hat and tells his nephew that getting a 0 in a chemistry exam is the way to be. He’s a passive-aggressive jerk who likes pushing others around because he’s ‘too cool for school’. Meanwhile, Rajatabha Dutta is a harmonica-playing baddie who constantly gives away free astrology advice.

Either way, the acting and characters are so subpar that concentrating on the story becomes a chore. But when you do finally get to the story, it’s just so predictable and goes down such known paths that, honestly, it just does nothing. The series is on-the-nose and tells you exactly what you want to hear, breaks down everything that happens so that you don’t have to think anything – just sit there and listen to some very bad dialogues.

At times while watching The Bengal Scam Bima Kando, I wondered why someone would write such horrid situations – at some point in the runtime, a group of CID officers are taking a key witness to testify against the bad guys. On the way, they come across a (badly acted) little girl and stop to enquire about what is going on. It is (of course) a trap, and not soon after, the bad guys start throwing eggs at the car and try to get them out of the car through the very open windows rather lazily.

One could argue that you can roll the windows up and drive fast to get away from the egg-throwing bad people. But then, the bad guys doing bad things would be too much to ask. We are supposed to be as dramatically scared as Moira when everyone throws eggs at her car in Schitt’s Creek. It’s just so stupid and doesn’t really make you feel any way because there’s nothing that happens to scare or even intimidate you.

The story goes from bad to worse with every passing episode, and just when you’d think the characters couldn’t say anything stupider than this, Samudra’s brother hands him a shoe and tells him to beat the scammer so bad that he forgets his father’s name (যে এই স্ক্যামটা করেছে, তাকে এই জুতো দিয়ে জুটিয়ে বাপের নাম ভুলিয়ে দে). Seriously, what the hell is going on?

I am not even going to talk about the acting. I feel personally disrespected by it after watching the entire thing.

Summing Up: The Bengal Scam Bima Kando

You know, there is a limit to watching bad shows. There should be something good about a show, literally anything. However, Hoichoi’s newest TV show is so bad that the makers should gift us a টাকার বিছানা just for making us go through this.

The Bengal Scam: Bima Kando is streaming on Hoichoi (seriously, don’t watch it).
