The 100 Girlfriends Season 2 Episode 1 Review

Our favourite harem anime is back with more love and even more girlfriends. Rentaro is truly living the life as he is getting his soulmates from left and right without batting an eye. In this episode, we see his six girlfriends being well aware that a lot of time has passed in their relationship, and things can get boring now. So, to spice things up, they decide to do something about it.
Kusuri, Rentaro’s 5th girlfriend, thus comes up with a drug that exchanges the girlfriend’s souls among themselves. This obviously creates utter chaos, and hilarity ensues because apparently, they do not have a solution to get back to their respective bodies. The solution? To have a prince’s magical kiss and break the spell. Will that work, or is it just a way to get Rentaro to kiss every one of them?

But that is not all. In this episode, we also meet Rentaro’s first girlfriend of Season 2 and 7th in total. She is Kurumi, a forever-hungry and gluttonous middle schooler with a cranky personality. She meets Rentaro in the high school cafeteria, and sparks fly between them the moment they look at each other. How things unfold is something you will have to find out by watching this episode. There is also the question of whether she will actually accept being part of the harem or not.

Now, let me be honest. If you come to this anime with logic, then it is your fault for getting disappointed. This anime knows how bizarre the premise is, and they themselves make fun of it, creating a hilarious atmosphere. Its self-awareness is one of its strongest points which adds to the charm and makes the humour even more effective. Plus, the quality of the animation is absolutely gorgeous, which elevates the viewing experience to newer heights.
Verdict

I genuinely enjoyed this episode and would urge you to watch it with an open mind, without any bias towards the harem genre. This is harem in the truest form. You already know there are no losers here, and every girl wins, automatically squashing any shipping wars.
Moreover, the episode delivers plenty of laughs with its over-the-top, ridiculous moments that signal not to take anything too seriously. So, watch this for the lolz.
