Taapsee Pannu is currently excited about her upcoming sports drama, Shabaash Mithu. The actor will portray the former Indian Skipper of the Women’s Cricket team, Mithali Raj. Directed by Srijit Mukherji, the film also stars Mumtaz Sorcar, Vijay Raaz and others. The actor has several interesting projects on her hand, including Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, in which she stars alongside Shah Rukh Khan.
Taapsee is a huge SRK fan; working with him is a dream come true for her. Recently, during a media interaction for Shabaash Mithu, the actor was asked how excited she feels to work with her favourite star. Pannu gave an interesting answer, “I was feeling very excited and still am whenever I’m not on that set.”
She adds, “I’m forced to switch off that switch because I feel that if I keep feeling like that fangirl while I’m at work with him, I’m not going to do my job properly. Later on I’m going to look back at that one opportunity that I got and I messed it up.”
Taapsee says that if she keeps fangirling around Shah Rukh, she won’t be able to treat him like a co-star. “If I keep fangirling, I can’t treat him like a co-star. So at least when I’m in front of the camera, I try to switch off that mode. I try to avoid looking at him like he is THE Shah Rukh Khan, which is very tough for someone whose introduction to Hindi movies happened through someone like him.”

Taapsee asked whether the film based on Mithali Raj would pull the audience to theatres. The actor states, “Well, that’s the whole idea behind making a film. She has been the skipper. She has been the torch bearer of this big change; the one who has led India to World Cup finals. She had a longest career. So I don’t know of any other person who can introduce you to women’s cricket in India better than Mithali.”
