Summer Time Render Episode 11 Review- Watch Your Back

It is hard not to get overwhelmed by what happens in every single episode of this show. One minute, you’re laughing with some friends and sad that another one of them died, and another moment you are getting chased by half-faced babies who can rip you to shreds. The show doesn’t loiter around with setting up harder and harder scenarios for our main characters to barely overcome, and this time, the situation might truly be out of their hands.

Some would say that going into a place such as that would be extremely foolish, but Shinpei and Ushio didn’t have much choice in the matter. The time is extremely limited in this scenario, and they need to find out as much as possible about this island before calamity strikes on the night of the festival. Shinpei’s ability to time-travel has become a somewhat limiting and convenient ability in the show, as some sense of danger is taken away when we realise that all that has happened can be reversed with one bullet in the right place.

Thus, when the named characters die in this show, it is hard to feel sorry for them for very long because you always know they can come back. The thought is somewhat comforting in high-pressure shows such as this one because you know that even when things go massively wrong, Shinpei is smart enough to make new decisions the next go-around. However, the show’s favourite pastime is still to reveal as many secrets as possible in every episode.

The trio was facing several unpleasant faces the last time we saw them, but the most familiar and beautiful face that they knew turned out to be the most dangerous one. There are a lot of things about this island that we are still unaware of, and this episode introduced another facet to that- human involvement with the humongous tragedy about to befall the island. Not just the shadows but a few humans seem to be collaborating with the shadows to bring about the downfall of its island in one way or another. I’m sure we’ll get to hear the story of how that’s supposed to work, but today is not that day.

This was mostly a character and plot-focused episode, but the effect seems to be insignificant, at least for now. The twist was one that not many people would have been surprised by and/or cared about. The series is taking its time to put whatever it is best known for with a calculated pace, which does mean that a few episodes turn out to be a little slower, like this one. Still, enough happened in this episode to call this a highly entertaining and captivating episode, like all of its predecessors.
Verdict
While a little slower and less hard-hitting than the previous episodes, Summer Time Render Episode 11 still delivered enough goods to be a worthy outing for the series.
