Netflix Suburræterna Plot
Suburræterna follows the compelling storyline established in the 2015 neo-noir film Suburra and picks up where the 2017 Netflix crime drama series Suburra: Blood on Rome left off. Expanding upon the intricate web of crime, power struggles, and ethical uncertainties, this new series delves deeper into the complexities of its characters’ lives while navigating the clandestine underworld of Rome.
The narrative centers on a city in chaos; the government is on the verge of collapse, the Vatican grapples with significant challenges, and unrest consumes the city’s public spaces. Amidst this turmoil, Cinaglia and Badali maintain control over the city’s criminal landscape, supported by Adelaide, Angelica, and Nadia, each overseeing different sectors of the city.
Yet, dissatisfaction simmers among those unhappy with the existing order. Damiano Luciani and his family unleash chaos that ripples across Rome, impacting iconic landmarks from St. Peter’s to other pivotal locations. This upheaval prompts Spadino to return home to safeguard his family and form unexpected alliances. A monumental clash looms, with the fate of Rome hanging in the balance.
Suburræterna Ending Explained
The tale begins with Damiano Luciani, the Anacleti family’s dog caretaker and Angelica’s husband, formerly married to Spadino. When Spadino left Rome, Angelica wed Damiano, abiding by the Anacleti family tradition of not displacing daughters-in-law. Adelaide, the family matriarch, consistently mistreated Damiano and his kin, often derogatorily labeling them as ‘dogs.’ Giulia Luciani, Damiano’s sister, and Cesare Luciani, his brother, were involved in smuggling drugs for the Anacletis, with Cesare working alongside Nadia. Frustrated with their meager earnings, they plotted to overthrow the Anacleti dynasty.
Unable to accomplish this alone, they sought the help of Ercole Bonatesta, an aspiring young politician seeking election to the city council. To gain power, Ercole required funds and aimed to eliminate adversaries. Together, they orchestrated the downfall of the Anacleti family. This prompted Spadino’s return to Rome. Upon his return, he discovered the truth about his mother’s death, igniting a thirst for vengeance and a desire to reclaim his family’s rightful position. He formed a new alliance with Amedeo Cinaglia, who sought to dismantle Ercole Bonatesta’s plans for Rome’s Stadium.
How did Nadia Die?
Nadia had been working with the Anacleti family, but after Adelaide’s death and the family’s downfall, she received an offer to join the Luciani family and partake in their drug business. Her decision to accept the offer stemmed from her close friendship with Angelica. Despite her lack of trust in the Lucianis, her belief in Angelica led her to make that choice. However, things took a turn when Giulia Luciani removed a poster of Aureliano from the gym, triggering Nadia deeply.
After Aureliano’s death, Angelica was the only one left whom Nadia loved and regarded as a sister. Now, the Lucianis’ actions, aiming to strip everything from her, became unbearable for Nadia. She decided to align herself with Spadino to eliminate the Lucianis, ensuring Angelica’s safety.
Nadia crafted a plan to deceive Angelica, pretending to be on the Lucianis’ side, intending to betray her by calling Spadino to eliminate the Luciani family. However, Damiano, sharp-witted, confronted Nadia, understanding her ability to deceive his wife but not him. Nadia argued that Spadino promised not to harm Angelica. Damiano, however, made her realise that Angelica was indirectly responsible for Spadino’s mother’s death, making him ruthless enough to consider harming Angelica. This revelation led Nadia to betray Spadino, calling him for the attack. Unbeknownst to her, the Luciani family was prepared, and in the ensuing crossfire, Victor fatally shot Nadia.

Why Did Ercole Kill His Grandfather?
Ercole, a young politician serving on the city council, often grapples with the weight of his family legacy, particularly being known predominantly as the descendant of his influential grandfather, Vito, the patriarch of the Bonatesta family. Vito’s strategic alliances with Samurai and Cinaglia have secured the family’s control over the majority of licenses for Rome’s burgeoning small food enterprises. Consequently, there’s a pressing need for someone to protect their interests within the Capitol.
Despite this entrenched perception, Ercole is resolute in his determination to carve his own path distinct from the shadow of his family’s name. Fueled by a resounding purpose, he is driven to demonstrate his worth beyond mere inheritance. However, his actions, including the controversial decision to take the lives of Adelaide and Badali, were contrary to his grandfather’s counsel. Vito attempted to dissuade him, cautioning against these actions, but Ercole’s deep-seated resentment toward the Anacleti family for his father’s demise fueled his defiance. Despite Vito’s persistent attempts to reason with him, Ercole’s actions led to Vito’s loss in the food business, prompting Vito to consider killing Ercole.
During one instance, while Ercole was with Damiano to share a surprise, Vito’s men intervened, attempting to abduct and even murder him. Damiano’s timely intervention saved Ercole, but the incident stoked his rage. Subsequently, Ercole confronted his grandfather at the family shop, leading to a confrontation where he, consumed by anger, strangled Vito to his demise.
