Strong Girl Nam-soon Episode 8 Recap and Review: The famous hit South Korean drama Strong Woman Do Bong-soon (힘쎈여자 도봉순) spin-off series Strong Girl Nam-soon (힘쎈여자 강남순) of the is directed by Kim Jung-Sik and written by Baek Mi-Kyeong. Starring Lee Yoo-mi, Kim Jung-eun, Kim Hae-sook, Ong Seong-wu and Byeon Woo-seok in the lead roles, the series will follow a young girl named Nam-soon and her immense strength being used for the good. The series is produced by JTBC and is distributed by Netflix.
The series takes up the story of Bong-soon’s sixth cousin, Kang Nam-soon (Lee Yoo-mi) who has similar strength to her cousin. After getting lost in Magnolia, Nam-soon returns to South Korea to find her family. She successfully finds her mother (Kim Jung-eun) and grandmother (Kim Hae-sook) but little does she know, the trio are in for a big treat.
Lee Yoo-mi made it big after her pivotal role in Squid Game (2021). She was last seen in All of Us Are Dead (2022). Kim Jung-eun’s last ventures are Missing: The Other Side (2020-2023) and DNA Mate (since 2022). Kim Hae-sook’s latest work was Revenant (2023). Speaking of Ong Seong-wu, he was last seen in the movie Starlight Falls (2023) while Byeon Woo-seok’s latest project was Soulmate (2023).

Strong Girl Nam-soon Episode 8 Recap
Nam-soon passes the strength test and wins Shi-o’s trust. We see Geum-ju riding her bike following someone’s GPS only to meet two random bike club riders and engage in a random conversation. Jun-hee and Joong-gan get ultimately closer and she tells him the backstory of how her daughter Geum-ju became a rich woman.
Nam-in picks up the card given by the woman who gave him the pill and wires the money to the number that’s mentioned in the card to receive another pill. Nam-soon updates everything about her interaction with Hee-sik, worrying him. She then learns about her co-worker’s death which upsets her because only a day before she spoke with him. They rule out his case as death due to exhaustion but he seems to have consumed lots of energy drinks. Could that be a reason?
When Nam-soon informs about her co-worker’s death to Shi-o, he cuts the call and calls in his assistant. He angrily yells at him for not letting him know about the staff’s death, not because he has concern for him but because he got mad at how his company’s name might get down. That night Hee-sik meets and sees Nam-soon drinking bottles and bottles of Soju as she is sad due to the death of her colleague. Hee-sik speaks some comforting words before complimenting her rosy cheeks.
When Nam-soon states that there are plenty of women in Mongolia with rosy cheeks, Hee-sik teases her that he must go to Mongolia soon only to make Nam-soon boldly ask him to date her. Hee-sik becomes dumbfounded and Nam-soon tells him “I Love You” in the Mongolian language which he doesn’t understand. The two then happily leave.

The next day, Geum-ju learns from her fellow Heritage Club ladies regarding Song Bread and the profit he made them. Geum-ju becomes more suspicious of him since her connections couldn’t find anything about him. His mystery baffles her. Later we see Nam-soon joining Shi-o at the Heritage Club where he asks Marie Kim to give all his duties to Nam-soon aka Hillary Khan. Previously Shi-o asks Nam-soon/Tsegtseg to choose an English name for work purposes and she names herself Hillary Khan. Moreover, she wears a watch given by Hee-sik that constantly tapes everything happening around her.
Back to the present scene, Shi-o’s request pisses Marie Kim and she speaks with him alone. He states that Nam-soon has won his trust and that she can also take her turn. When Marie Kim tests Nam-soon with a bottle of tranquiliser, Nam-soon chokes. This makes Hee-sik panic and he runs towards the club only to meet Shi-o. He tries to hide his face and returns back to the car. Shi-o who is on a call notices him and walks back inside.
Hee-sik learns that Nam-soon is alright and she pretended like she choked as the poison didn’t affect her at all. She chugs bottles of alcohol to prove her resistance. Marie Kim passes out after drinking way too many shots. Nam-soon informs about her successful mission to Shi-o and retrieves. At the car, Nam-soon updates Hee-sik and his superior about what happened and agrees to find more details about Shi-o with her own plan.
That night she dresses up as a ghost and enters the Doogo company. She goes inside Shi-o’s cabin and carries his desktop. Just when she tries to leave one of Shi-o’s bodyguards finds the ghostly her (he doesn’t recognise her) and tries to catch her. She however pushes him down, breaks the window, and jumps out with the desktop, successfully. Meanwhile, Geum-ju checks out Shi-o’s photos that were taken in Russia and notices Song Bread in one of his photos. It increases her curiosity to find out how dirty he is. Nam-in swallows another pill and believes he can lose weight quickly.
Dong-suk meets with Shi-o’s main drug rat, probably to get more drugs. The episode ends with Jun-hee proposing to Joong-gan while Geum-ju receives a call from her father who is now in Korea.
Strong Girl Nam-soon Episode 8 Review
There’s too much happening and it’s all interesting, to be honest. Firstly, why is Shi-o trying to build this new drug? While it’s understandable that he wants to possess extreme strength, there has to be a reason behind this. He in fact is in love with Nam-soon already, does that mean he has a soft side too?
Coming to Song Bread, who is he? Given his humour, he seems to be a crazy rich man but there’s definitely something darker behind him. How did he get rich and why is he in Shi-o’s picture? Could he be a part of Shi-o’s plan or is he the real main villain while Shi-o is just a coy? Moreover, who is running the weight loss drug business? Is it Song Bread or is there someone else? Will all these questions reveal a big villain or are they just separate stories? Either way, the truth will come out soon since we’re already halfway up there.
So far the series is really good and I’m in love with the Hee-sik and Nam-soon pair. They fell in love right when they met and it’s nice to see they’re a couple who straight-up decided to stay beside each other without any bickering and fighting. However, Shi-o is also such a potential match for Nam-soon but since he is the bad guy (who was least bothered about his staff’s death), he isn’t the right fit for Nam-soon’s personality.
