Spider-Man Across the Spider-verse: All the Spider-People Spotted in the New Trailer

In the new and upcoming Spider-Man Across the Spider-verse trailer, we see a whole new range of Spider-people, some known and some unknown at this point. This film has a stellar cast starring Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Oscar Isaac, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Jason Schwartzmann, Karan Soni, Brian Tyree Henry and Lauren Velez alongside other cast members. This film is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson, and will have another instalment after this.

So far in the trailer, we see the main Spider-people who will be making their appearances but also some unknown versions of the character from an alternate universe. At the nexus, where they all meet, things become interesting. Filled with some Spider-Man easter eggs, here are all the Spider-people we could identify from the trailer.

All the Spider-people in Spider-Man Across the Spider-verse

Let’s start with the basics; we have:

Spider-Man: Miles Morales

The main character of this story and the driving force of this narrative. After a spider bit him while he was doing graffiti, he was left with the powers of turning invisible and summoning electricity. After a brief stint with the multiverse before, he started to solve crimes in his own neighbourhood of Brooklyn as the friendly guy in the suit.

Spider-Man 616: Peter B Parker

The guy who has been terrorised by his life and essentially became listless enough to lose all motivation for life and even eats to avoid his feelings. After his stint with the multiverse, he decides to go back home and make some changes with his ex-wife, and boy, oh boy, do they work out well in his favour.

Spider-Gwen: Gwen Stacy

After seeing her best friend die, she takes on the mantle of a Spider-person and saves the city against the evils it hoards. Her stint in the multiverse led her to a new friend and a chance to begin making friends with people, to be unafraid that she may lose them. She is the one who takes Miles on this journey across the multiverse.

Spider-Man 2099: Miguel O’Hara

After seeing a little bit of him last time, the trailer gives us a full glimpse into his personality. Creator of The Lobby, where all of the Spider-People meet, Miguel O’Hara is an uptight person tasked with keeping the multiverse in check. When the Spider-people are outside of their universe, they glitch, so it would be interesting to see how this character bypassed that hack.

Now, for the new kids:

Spider-Woman: Jessica Drew

This is the first time audiences will be getting a look at the character. As we notice, she is pregnant and still using her Spider powers to solve crimes and be a productive member of the Spider-people community. In the comics, she was originally a brainwashed spy for HYDRA before getting recruited to The New Avengers, leading her to participate in a storyline titled ‘Secret Invasion.’

Spider-Punk: Hobart Brown

Our only look at Spider-Punk in the trailer is the irradiating punk rock energy from the music he is playing on the guitar. In the comics, he gets bitten by a spider due to Norman Osborn’s toxic waste dumping, leading a revolution against the President. He kills President Osborn with a guitar and essentially becomes a hero to the proletariat.

Spider-Man India: Pavitr Prabhakar

Once again, the brief look we get at the Indian Spider-Man is the fun hair and the dhoti costume that distinguishes the character from the other spider-people. He is introduced to all the incoming Spider-people. In the comics, he is a village boy coming to Mumbai to study on a half scholarship. After an ancient yogi grants him powers, he uses them to defeat Nalin Oberoi, the local crime lord possessed by a demon.

Mayday Parker

Also known as Spider-Woman on Earth 982, this time in the film, she comes from Earth 616, Peter’s daughter with Mary Jane. After tagging along with her dad on this adventure, her powers may also come to light. So far, all the trailer shows is her swinging in and being the cutest kid possible. Why Peter B Parker brought her somewhere that could be dangerous is something we can only check out in the film.

Spider-Man Easter Eggs:

Bombastic Bag-Man: Peter Parker

What if his powers were giving a bombastic side eye? I digress. While we only get a glimpse of this man in the trailer, his backstory is quite interesting. After isolating the alien symbiote from him, Peter is left without a suit. So, Reed Richards gives him a spare Fantastic Four costume and a grocery bag to place on his head so he doesn’t reveal his identity while slinging around the city.

Spider-Wolf: Name Unknown

Only making his appearance once in the comics and the trailer, this Spider-person has all the same abilities as the 616 Spider-Man, also with the ability to change into a werewolf at will. The image we see in the trailer is of a beast-like Spider-person walking in The Lobby, but the posture and stance suggest that it could be a Spider-wolf.

Spider-Cop: Name Unknown

A small glimpse into the trailer shows us a Spider-Cop. In the comics, he uses his powers for the NYPD and is inducted into the Spider-Army by Spider-Gwen, helping them defeat the Inheritors. His powers are similar to that of Spider-Man from Earth 616 and have similar abilities.

Spider-Man Earth-199999: Peter Parker

In one of the scenes, Miguel O’Hara refers to the nerd back on this Earth along with Doctor Strange. This probably refers to the events from No Way Home, where everyone forgets that he is Peter Parker. It’s a fun detail that he also never seems to say his name calls him nerd, nor does the other Peter B Parker say his name. An interesting insight all the same.

Spider-Horse: Widow

On Earth 31913, there is a Web-Slinger and his male horse Widow who was bitten by a radioactive spider and given powers. It is essentially a Western but in the Marvel Universe. In the trailer, we see this character chasing after Miles, intruding upon another Spider-person’s therapy session.

The universe of Spider-people continues to expand with the expansion of the story, and like the last film, this time, we will get to see a lot more of these characters differently. Spider-Man Across the Spider-verse comes to theatres on June 2, 2023. Watch the first film, Spider-Man Into the Spider-verse, on Netflix to catch up with the story.
