Spice and Wolf Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf Episode 6 Review: The 6th episode of the brand-new remake of Spice and Wolf is finally here. Let us see how the sixth episode went in detail below.

Spice and Wolf Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf Episode 6 Overview

Spice and Wolf Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf Episode 6 Review Losing Holo Again

The talented author Isuna Hasekura has written this remarkable series as a light novel, which is beautifully illustrated by Jū Ayakura. The story is directed by Takahashi Takeo and Sanpei Hijiri, and it follows the life of a travelling merchant who, one day, finds a young, naked woman sleeping in his carriage.

The anime series features the musical contributions of ClariS and Hope Hana for the theme songs, and Penkin Kevin for the overall score. The series has received official licensing from Crunchyroll, whereas TV Tokyo and AT-X are the original providers of the broadcast.

Episode 6 of Spice and Wolf Reboot 2024 can also be called the 6th episode of Ōkami to Kōshinryō (狼と香辛料).

I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

Spice and Wolf Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf Episode 6 Review and Recap – Yarei Only Means Business

Spice and Wolf Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf Episode 6 Review Losing Holo Again

This episode was more intense than ever because of how wrong things got with our protagonists. Holo and Lawrence were able to run from their captors, but they did not go too far. As these two were travelling through the underground sewer system, it was only natural for their enemies to look at this place as well.

This is why when they try to flee from the Medio company’s people via these sewers, they soon see a bunch of goons chasing them. Not only that, but they also bring hunting dogs with them to sniff Holo and Lawrence out. Here, we witness one of the powers of Holo, who quickly howls in a high pitch and scares the dogs away. But even that is not enough, and our hero gets stabbed when he tries to protect Holo.

This episode showcased how important Holo is to Lawrence but also showed his fear towards her. He is someone who is ready to let go of his life to honour the contract he made with Holo, but at the same time, he becomes scared when she shows him her actual appearance. However, this definitely does not mean that he doesn’t trust her. Previously, he had a bad experience with a werewolf and perhaps that’s why he is uncomfortable and terrified of them.

Another thing that we saw today is how, many of the merchants feel about their relationships and businesses. Yarei, who was a good friend of Lawrence, did not think twice to sell his friend out. On top of that, the goddess who protected his village for all these years meant nothing to him, and he only thought of making a profit by handing her over to the church. He even goes as far as to order the Medio company people to kill Lawrence so that he can get Holo.

Verdict

All in all, today’s episode is where we finally get over Holo and Lawrence’s first adventure, which started with the silver coins. This adventure definitely could have yielded very bad results, but thankfully, it ended on a promising note. By the end, Lawrence even made some profit though it was not as much as he envisioned, plus, he also managed to retain his partner. I’m definitely looking forward to their next adventure.
