In this episode, we see how deeply Lawrence is affected after learning about Holo’s homeland. Realizing that their time together may be limited, he understands the urgency of finding her place. Determined, Lawrence begins his search around the town, gathering information about northern towns and seeking out a chronicler with the help of a shopkeeper. Lawrence hopes to uncover Northern Pagan lore and stories that might provide clues about Holo’s origins.

Meanwhile, back at the inn, Holo wishes to explore the town, but Lawrence is too preoccupied to accompany her. Undeterred, Holo secures some funds for a solo outing. Amati, who is infatuated with her, eagerly volunteers to show her around, and Lawrence agrees, prioritizing his quest for answers. Lawrence’s search leads him to an alchemist with extensive knowledge, facilitated by the chronicler.

An intriguing aspect of this city is its tolerance towards pagan religions. Unlike previous towns where defying the church could result in execution, here pagans can live relatively peacefully. Lawrence visits a part of the town resembling an alchemist community—an old, quaint area filled with the sounds and smells of birds. Amidst this setting lives Dian Rubens, a beautiful woman often suspected of being a witch.

Dian shares with Lawrence the legend of Holo, the guardian werewolf, and provides him with a lead on where to continue his journey with Holo.
