Sirens Ending Explained
This Netflix dark comedy drama series starts with Devon, after not getting any response from her sister Simone, figuring out where she is through her Instagram and making a 16-hour journey to find her. She ends up on a hoity-toity island in a beautiful house on a cliff that the locals seem to be very uncomfortable with. In the house, she bumps into Simone, looking completely different and now working for the charismatic Michaela Kell.
As soon as Devon lands there, she realises that something is amiss about Michaela and the house itself. She immediately tries to get Simone back to Buffalo with her to help their father, but Simone refuses and chooses to stay on the island. Simone and Michaela’s relationship is also extremely close, so much so that she sexts Michaela’s husband Peter on her behalf and shares gum with her.

Devon desperately tries to win her sister back, but to no avail. She even gets arrested, and she learns about Michaela murdering Peter’s first wife from one of the other girls in the prison who used to go to school with his two children. Devon also learns how to possibly have a shot at getting Simone off the island – be nice and integrate herself into the cult and play the long game.
How Did Simone and Devon’s Mother Die
The series’ central conflict arises from Simone and Devon’s relationship with each other and with their family. Both of the sisters go through several upheavals throughout the runtime of the series as they come to terms with their changed relationship with one another and with their lives. It comes out in the end that the sisters’ mother didn’t die of a drunk driver but because she killed herself with carbon monoxide poisoning in her car and tried to kill Simone as well. Devon found her sister and took her to the hospital.
Since then, Devon has been taking care of Simone, and thus when she disappeared, she found herself drowning their her father’s responsibility.

What’s the Truth Behind Michaela? Was Simone in a Cult?
Actually, no. Simone wasn’t in a cult, she just wanted to get away from her past life. Michaela, as it turns out, was actually a big lawyer who got swept up by Peter while he was still married to Jocelyn. Peter cheated on his first wife, and then they got married after Jocelyn seemingly disappeared. Although at first she wanted to keep her job and her identity, she slowly lost herself in the lavish vacations and Peter’s insistence that he would take care of her.
In the end, Michaela hooks Simone up with a cushy job in New York and advises her not to marry Ethan and become a Mrs Somebody. Unfortunately, Michaela learns about Peter kissing Simone, and, although it was a mistake and they were not having an affair, she fires her. Simone is left devastated but decides to run back on their way to the ferry and tells Peter that Michaela has a picture of them kissing. Peter realises that Michaela is planning to use the picture as an insurance against their prenup, gets Jose to collect it, and then breaks up with Michaela, taking Simone back as his new wife.

Is Devon Able to Rescue Simone?

In the end, it turns out that Devon never really needed to rescue Simone. She did what she did out of her own free will and is continuing to make choices that will impact her life going forward. She decides to head back home with Bruce and finds Michaela on the boat. They have a brief conversation where Michaela tells Devon that Simone isn’t the monster that everyone will perceive her as from now on, just like she wasn’t. The series ends with Simone looking out over the cliff, standing alone now that her sister has decided to leave her.
