Silo Episode 4 Review

In the previous episode, Mayor Jahns and Marnes trek down 144 levels to meet Juliette. Through her trek, we get to know more about Juliette’s life and how she is actually from the Mid-levels, with a doctor as her father. However, something tragic happened in the family that led her to run away from home to the Mechanical and become estranged from her father.

Episode 4 delves further into her childhood, where it’s revealed that she lost her brother due to an ailment and her mother might have left the house. Not being able to deal with the loss of her loved ones, Juliette finds herself with endless work in mechanical as her way out of misery.

However, her term as a Sheriff starts on an ominous note with the death of Mayor Jahns, who took a chance on her. As expected, even her evident murder is being kept under wraps, and nobody seems to be wondering about her cause of death, except for Deputy Marnes. He is in the same position as Juliette when she lost George, and nobody tried to help.

In terms of story development, nothing much happens except for Juliette facing hostility from people who refuse to accept someone from the bottom as their sheriff. Nor does anything about the Mayor’s death revealed or any hints about who can be behind it all. As exciting and thrilling as the last episode was, the latest one was a letdown.

Silo Episode 4 Review: Rebecca Ferguson

There’s absolutely no truth to be found, as mentioned in the episode title. Instead, they make us all the more confused by ending on a cliffhanger and introducing a new character about whom we have no idea. Even when they focused on Marnes majorly, we don’t see anything about his past or things he did that would make others his enemy. If anything, he looked suspicious to me, as if he was the one orchestrating the whole mayor’s murder and whatnot.

Even his listening to Juliette’s conversation with Martha and then instantly whistling after portraying himself in a gloomy mood was confusing. Is he happy to know that Juliette might be thinking of him as an ally or that he found something that could help indict her and send her back?

Final Thoughts

Silo Episode 4 Review: Common, Tim Robbins
Silo Episode 4 Review: Common, Tim Robbins

The show seems to be losing the grip it had in the initial episodes, and it’s too soon to have a filler-like episode when things are just getting heated. They have introduced all these mysteries, but there is not one hint that would keep the viewers hanging or even make their own theories. At first, it was all about finding out if the outside world is really toxic, but now it’s just a murder mystery and other things are thrown out of the Silo.
