Friends Shikimori's Not Just A Cutie Episode 4

This was another fantastic outing by this show. We are now at episode 4, and almost a whole month has passed since the show first aired. By now, the formula the show relies on upon and the end result it is trying to get to isn’t hard to figure out. However, as I’ve mentioned time and time again, predictability is not always a bad thing. Things become commonplace because of a simple reason – they work. Shikimori has found a winning formula, and it is sticking to its guns as of right now.

This episode dealt with the entire friend group, which encompasses Izumi, Shikimori, Hachimitsu, Inuzuka, and Nekozaki. While the show has mostly revolved around our favourite couple, their three friends have also received a little bit of spotlight from time to time. Shikimori and Izumi are great, but the show would feel a lot emptier if characters like the friends and Izumi’s parents were not involved. All of them play an important part in the show’s quality. Better yet, they are great friends.

Shy Shikimori Shikimori's Not Just A Cutie Episode 4

Bakugo lite, or Inuzuka, only resembles the character design and is as far as you can get from his nature. He is generally a little loud, but he is extremely sincere and good-natured. He only wants the best for his friends, showcased by his protecting Izumi when Shikimori couldn’t. He was great in Shikimori Episode 4, as he did what he does best. Hachimitsu, the weird one, is quite hilarious at times, as she was in the volleyball episode. She is the most unexplored character in the group so far, something that can be steadily remedied.

The latest episode told the story of how Nekozaki met Shikimori and, by extension, Izumi. It went exactly how you would expect, and the connection between them was strong and almost instantaneous. Overall, the couple seems to have amassed a great group of friends who all care about each other and like to be in each other’s company. It is nice to see a functional friend group where nothing bad is going on in anyone’s mind, and they aren’t all trying to ruin each other’s lives.

All the Shikimori and Izumi moments in Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie Episode 4, the bread and butter of the series, were great. There was nothing new here, as the most they did was talk and help each other out. At this point, this show has become much more of a comfort watch than anything else. The story could be whatever, the character development could be weird, and the animation could become worse, but the show will still be watchable after all that. It just offers what nothing else is offering.

Verdict

Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie Episode 4 was full of sugar, spice and everything nice. It was the perfect comfort watch, whether you crave a perfect relationship or some great friends.
