Movie Date Shikimori's Not Just A Cutie Episode 3

Slice of life can be a torturous genre to enjoy for anime fans for a myriad of reasons. For one, a bunch of slice of life stories are just miserable. I love me my tears and sadness, but the hundredth straight tear-jerker can feel like a bit much to even the most hardened and ardent of fans. They can also all seem somewhat similar, which at times is the appeal due to their homeliness and reliability, but watching a lot will still make you sick of everything for a while.

Thus, shows like Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie come as a breath of fresh air for even the most jaded of fans. It starts with a couple who is already in a relationship, which is already an anomaly. Then you factor in the total lack of drama in the show, making it a comfort watch raised to its maximum limits. Deaths? Abuse? Family issues? Breakdowns? Bad friends? You don’t need to worry about any of them here. All you need to do is sit down and do some facial exercises, for your face isn’t going to stop smiling until the episode ends.

Izumi Parents Shikimori's Not Just A Cutie Episode 3

Speaking of friends, Izumi and Shikimori have some of the best they could ever have. Bakugo-lite, or Inuzuka, serves as the catalyst for this episode in the sweetest of ways, and it is delightful to see our characters have such selfless and helpful friends in a world that sorely lacks people like them. Whether it is the sports in the previous episodes or the wingmanship in this one, you can be sure that they will be here to help whenever our protagonists need them. That is an extremely comfortable thought to have.

Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie Episode 3 involved our favourite couple going on a date, and it was a delight to witness whatever happened. The movie selection, Shikimori’s outfits, and Izumi’s bad luck all played in making this date a success in the hearts and minds of the show’s viewers. The love that the two share has never been so apparent as it is here, and it was a delight to witness. The show also parodied a bunch of Hollywood movies as part of this segment which could have been corny but weren’t.

The true highlight of Shikimori Episode 3 was the meeting of Shikimori and Izumi’s parents, who we saw in the first episode for a tiny bit. Both of them have tremendous personalities, the kind that makes you wish that you were related to them somehow. Shikimori and Izumi’s parents were great together, and naturally, they made Shikimori feel like just as much a part of the family as Izumi was. The dynamic between the couple gains more credence here, which was a ton of fun to watch and heartwarming to experience. This was another phenomenal outing for the show.

Verdict

Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie Episode 3 was another wholesome and comforting outing that was a joy to watch. Can we say “best girl” now?
