The cast is star-studded, and it includes Ini Edo, Chidi Mokeme, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Sola Sobowale, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Zubby Michael, Shaffy Bello, Nancy Isime, Uche Jombo, Mercy Eke, Ali Nuhu, Peter Okoye, Lilian Afegbai, Toyin Abraham and Regina Daniels. Shanty Town Plot/Synopsis

While the show has mostly kept the plot under wraps, the general premise involves corruption and illegal (mostly drug-related) ventures. The Netflix description reads, “A group of courtesans attempts to escape the grasp of a notorious kingpin – but political corruption and blood ties make freedom a near-impossible goal.”

Even though there are new players coming back to the game, the system is rigged. It is set up to benefit a group of people who will do bad things and get away with it scot-free. Meanwhile, the courtesans working extremely hard in their industry have nothing to show except bad debts and tons of unpaid credit.

There are people who will raid and pillage people’s houses to incite fear and keep them in control. However, there are more people coming to fight the corruption and upend the people that keep this regime going. What comes next is a showdown between the people who are oppressing and the ones fighting the oppression.

In the centre of all these high stakes, there are real people who are just looking to pay their debts and be done with the cult-like fashion with which this community is working. As it says in one of the text cards, once they enter, it is difficult to leave. Inem, however, is here to change that. She is here to make sure that there is justice for the women wronged by Scar.

This mobilisation threat is what scares the handler. Inem has been making sure that the women are strong enough on their own to send away the goons trying to extort money. The trailer shows law enforcement and the women working together to bring down this corrupt system and catch them in the act.
