-Shantaram Episode 4 Review Contains Mild Spoilers-

The episode starts with flashbacks of Lin’s past in Australia, where his lawyer attempts to find a reason for his refusal to leave the dying cop. It is revealed that Lin had the option to not only flee the crime scene but also clear his name from the trial. However, he chose not to escape the punishment for his actions and decided to plead guilty.

This can be described as the seed of inception for Lin’s conscience. He is remorseful about the actions of his past (and his present) and wants no one else to take the pain for his wrongdoings.

In the previous episode, Lin ultimately gave in to Prabhu’s request and started consulting the sick people of Sagarwada. But a major problem arises when he doesn’t have enough resources to treat them well, as the patients need immediate medicines.

Left with no other option, Lin decides to make a deal with the devil and asks Khader Khan for the favour. Thereby, the philosophical convict surrounds himself again with the bad guys, but this time to help the good ones.
