Still from the Hulu reality TV show’s trailer.

Secrets and Sisterhood Cast

The show follows lives of 10 Muslim-American sisters living in LA – Shakur Sozahdah, Jamila Sozahdah, Hamida Sozahdah, Nooreya Sozahdah, Siddiqa Sozahdah, Rabya Sozahdah, Khadija Sozahdah, Shaista Sozahdah, Muzlefa Sozahdah and Halimah Sozahdah.

Secrets and Sisterhood Plot/Storyline

Having many siblings can be a complicated in any family, but in the Sozahdah family, having a huge clan adds up to many other issues the 10 sisters have to tussle with. While navigating their relationships, love, careers and cultural expectations in Los Angeles, the siblings’ bond is pushed to the edge despite the ultimate code they swear by – “family over everything”.

Amidst all that is going on, curtains drop down to reveal secrets that they’ve so long held close to their heart. One of the sisters even expresses the rising tensions in the trailer as she claims that they thought that doing the reality TV show together would only bring them closer, but it’s somehow endangered everything they’ve built together.

Even their initial comments shed light on how having 10 sisters was like a ‘tumultuous rollercoaster ride”, but as an American-Muslim, “it was next level”. Having been raised in a conventional muslim household, the elder sister hold the same values in mind and are traditional to some extent, whereas the younger ones born in US call themselves the “wolf pack”. The brewing drama is bound to reveal dark secrets that have led one of the sisters to even fear being shunned by her family. In the end, all they can really leave as a cautionary message before we get into the show this June is – “Buckle Up!”.
