Suddenly, there was no sign of his presence anymore. Since then, he has changed his name to Kenshin Himura, trying to lead a peaceful life and vowing never to kill again. 

If you loved Onimusha and the way feudal Japan is portrayed, then you are bound to love Rurouni Kenshin as well. In Onimusha, we witnessed how life was at the beginning of the Edo period, and here, we will see life towards the end of the Edo period.

This is another great series you should watch if you like samurais going on long quests. The story begins with a clumsy waitress, Fuu, spilling her drink all over some customers. When Fuu calls for help, our protagonist Mugen, comes to the rescue. He is an eccentric samurai who fights his enemies almost as if he is dancing.

But he’s not alone as we also encounter the serious and disciplined Jin with whom Mugen does not get along. One thing leads to another, and both of them get sentenced to death only to be saved by Fuu. She then hires them as her bodyguard and goes on a quest to find a samurai who smells like sunflowers.

If you like watching samurais hack up some monsters, then you will love this. Everything starts when Daigo Kagemitsu, a feudal lord with great ambition, tries to make a pact with demons to get his hands on power. Twelve demons gave him whatever he desired and helped his prefecture grow, but obviously, at a huge cost.

Daigo’s first son was born almost like a monster without any limbs, ears, skin or eyes. He gets disposed of by his father, but years later, he returns with prosthetics and a sword to kill demons and get his body back. 

Blade of the Immortal

This is another gory thriller anime that tells us about Manji, the infamous Hundred Man Killer, who is well-known for killing 100 innocent men. But that is not the most important part about him; it is the fact that he is immortal and cannot die. Apparently, there are magical worms in his body that can heal any wounds. Now, to atone for whatever he has done in his life, he wishes to kill 100 evil men to balance his deeds.

Shigurui is an anime specifically for a mature audience, as it doesn’t shy away from showing nudity or violence. The time is the Edo period, and people are trying to live in peace in Japan. It was at that time Lord Tokugawa Tadanaga held a tournament for the entertainment of everyone. But unlike old times, wooden swords are not used, but real swords are put forward, and we, the audience, get a show of guts spilling and blood splattering.

But the highlight of this tournament is the fight between Fujiki, the one-armed samurai and Irako, a blind samurai.

This is another samurai anime that tells about Japan during the time of the warlord Ieyasu Tokugawa. Here, we see two ninja clans who cannot stand each other, having animosity for centuries. But as the warlord has forbidden any conflict and ordered a ceasefire, they are forced to get their acts together.

In such a situation, two hearts fall in love with each other from these two families. The families decide to marry them off, but is it so easy to squash down age-old rivalries and move on towards a better future?

Here, we witness the story of Afro, who saw his father getting killed at a very young age by a man called Justice. Justice also unties the number 2 headband on his head and wears the number 1 headband that gives immense power to him.

Now that Afro is older, he wishes to challenge the number 1 as he also got his hands on the number 2 headband. But there is a problem; everyone else seems to be interested in challenging him. This is because, according to rules, number 1 can only be challenged by number 2, but number 2 can be challenged by everyone else.
