Saint X Episode 6 Recap
In this episode, we see Emily deal with the consequences of being fired. First, she cleans the entire apartment to get her mind off things. When she cannot do that, she tries to go to Clive’s place. She calls up Sunita to ask her how she should get into his apartment without him knowing because he seems to have a letter from Edwin, and it is important that she gets a look at it. We then cut to the past, after Alison’s death.
Claire is eating cereal, but there is no milk. We are hearing her parents absolutely fall apart. After the ceremony, the mother makes it clear that she has to go to Paris for a month, so they can all get their bearings. We got back to their vacation when we see Alison walk past Tyler, and she barely spares him a glance. The family is confused about this, and Claire is happy that she can get some time with her sister. Meanwhile, Olivia is telling Tyler about Edwin and Alison. He is incredibly surprised and annoyed that this is happening in the first place.
Alison does not care at all and is cruelly reminded by Tyler that she is not some special girl Edwin has a thing for. He’s been doing this with all the women who come to the island. What is concerning, though, is the fact that Edwin seems to be going against his own ideals by getting a blowjob from some man. He was seen in the gay spot of the island, getting up to some salacious business in the dark corners. Back in the present, Emily is preparing for her dinner with her parents, and Josh confronts her about having an affair, which is so off-mark.

But Emily takes it in stride and instead tries to explain what happened. However, Josh is too pissed and leaves home. He speaks to Sunita on the phone, and she tells him that Emily has been going after Clive in order to find out what happened to her sister. Obviously, this doesn’t go over too well with him. He just wanted a simple dinner, and now he is stuck with taking care of a person who doesn’t care much for themselves. It is truly concerning to see Emily not care at all about the law because she is ready to break and enter in order to get that letter.
Back at the island, Clive is overwhelmed with work and another employee, Desmond, has taken it upon himself to threaten Edwin because he was caught speaking to Sara about his feelings. Desmond makes it his life goal to destroy Edwin unless he confesses everything to Gogo absolutely. The man has no idea what Edwin is like. The two of them are best friends, this would never even be a passing thought in his head, but it should be now.

Clive, in the present, is not just overwhelmed by secrets but also by roommates who ransack his room, take his things and then leave with a mess. It made him mad enough to take one of his roommates in a dumpster alley and beat him up. Emily sees all this and is so concerned he has no idea what to do. Back at the island, Alison is trying to win over Edwin and tries to do that by seeing more of the culture of the place they are living in. In order to do that, she asks Desmond for a spot to eat or something somewhere near.
It becomes clear that Alison isn’t really doing this to really see the place. She just wants to impress Edwin, who could not care enough about her as a person and is only interested in her body. As we move on, we see how the family and everyone on this island are deeply flawed. Back in the present, Emily is hosting her parents at home, and they are not ready to talk about Alison even now. They never tried to find out the truth (is what Emily feels), and now they aren’t even caring enough to ask their daughter why she has been like this.
Saint X Episode 6 Review
This episode’s only good thing is the fact that Alycia Debnam Carey can yell and emote through the yelling. Otherwise, the story still remains empty. We have no idea what has actually happened, how all the elements come together and why we need to see so much context for the murder. It is annoying that we aren’t even given the opportunity to move between timelines seamlessly. They are all haphazardly put together, hoping that there will be some meaning after this.

Since it seems that the show is self-aware of its racism, sexism, and homophobia, it doesn’t make sense to speak about that too much, but it is concerning how badly those elements are employed to make this show watchable. Once again, we could have completely done away with Sunita. She has absolutely no stake in this. It seems that she is only present to serve the main character, who seems to be suffering too many delusions regarding her place in the world. She got fired and didn’t care, and her boyfriend almost left her, and she didn’t care.
This show could have gotten better over the episodes if they were ever planned. There is no way they can salvage this show unless the last two episodes include so much context we might as well lose our minds.
